Best cable match for a Majik DSM + majik 140 system

Post by Eyesound »

Hi all, hope everyone is well.
I’m getting the speakers cables for the systems and trying to decide what is the best option for a Majik DSM + majik 140 speakers.

Is the K 200 the best option ?
Are there other better non Linn options ?

I have a pair of k400s from my old system. Is it worth splitting or just buy another pair?

Best (and cheapest) for your system, according to the Forum would be your K400 split into two 2.48 m runs and terminated with the optimal Solder and connectors.
Kalla/Sag M/Tun M3/242/LP12/Slip7

Kalla/Giella Pi/JBL308/RS2e

Majik LP12/Boazu/110s

Yeah, what the man said.

Split your K400 - best sensible cable in the world for music IMHO.

Now spitting K400 can be fun especially if it is old and the plastic is a bit hard.

You can use a knife or stanley blade, but you do not want to be going to hospital with the virus about.

I have used a number of times anvil secateurs

see https://www.gardenmyths.com/anvil-bypas ... s-pruners/

The flat blades slides alone between the two conductors. Best to do it on your lap with the two wires you have separated going over your shoulders! By far the easiest way.

Good luck

I saw some older post about splitting the K400. Do you basically unsheath the cable from the black outer casing ? So end result is having two thin separate cables ?

No, you cut the cable in two halves. Each half contains a twisted pair of conductors.

The black outer jacket should absolutely not be removed. The cable doesn't sound good without it. In each end it will need to be removed of course, but I recommend not to remove more than 8-10 cm (unless your connectors are so far apart that you need to).
