Congrats, Charlie1! Those are about as clean a set of drivers as I have seen on a pair of used Isobariks. The cabinets are in great shape as well, especially for black ones. The glue on the velcro drying is common (maybe more like ubiquitous) but not hard to deal with. Clean off as much as you can of the old stuff and use some good adhesive that sticks to plastic.

Thanks again all - and for the helpful advise Tom.

Weird being congratulated for buying something I've still not ever heard, but I'm not knockin' it :)

Hopefully there will be some time tomorrow.

That's if I'm not assimilated overnight!!!

OMG! If there is a more awkward speaker to setup then I really don't ever want to own it. They are level but I've not tried to optimise their distance apart. My back is killing me already.

Anyway, I like them. I thought they would have more of a distinct character but they are quite neutral really.

There's no more bass than the Keilidhs but it's not their ideal location - stud wall.

Midrange is very good and they are musically very coherent.

Top end is better than my Keilidhs but the treble is their biggest weakness anyway.

They are slightly lazy at times, but then so is the 160 so that characteristic gets exaggerated a bit.

I recorded a couple of tracks on the Keilidhs the other day after sorting the room out so that's all I have as a comparison.

hey charlie1
I have seen you are using Lack Tables - what I have done is put them on spikes and skeets. The spikes are screw in types and you can use them to level your LP rather than using the Trampolin.
The spikes are this type Teufel Satelliten Spikes (14.99 on amazon).

The Briks win easy ... I also like them more on the second clips.

Brik clips draw me into the music more and hold my attention longer than the Keilidhs. A definite win!

Keltiks have been high up on my short list of favorite speakers but I've never had a chance to hear Isobariks, so this was a nice little treat. Thanks!

I warmed up the 32.5/Hi/250 and then plugged that in this afternoon. I think the sluggishness was mostly down to the 160.

They are still a bit shouty even with the more refined 32.5/Hi/250. It's source dependant though.

I think if I keep them then they'll really need the bigger amp and I'd have to say goodbye to the 12/160 which I personally seem to connect with much better.

Dunno - not 100% convinced. I think they would benefit my Radikal LP12 with Krystal/Urika/Ekos SE but I don't want to burn through Krystals as background music whilst I work.

And I don't really want these monsters in the bedroom, plus it's prone to bass issues anyway.

Maybe this is one vintage speaker too many. I do love their coherence though, making music effortless, just like Kans.

Sorry, volumes aren't brilliantly matched.

Shouty song + Naim PRAT... I think the 'bariks sound really good with the more rounded 250. Would be very interested to hear them with a better front end and amplification but, yeah, they may be too much for that system/room. (I'd be happy to see if they work here ;)

Do you hear a lot of Naim prat in those clips? I don't seem to notice it.

Problem with the 250 is that I always feel another step removed from the music.

Getting somewhere. Just like the Kans, I prefer the 12/110 to the other options and it seems to drive them as well as the BD 160.

Also, the VM95E adds a bit more refinement and interest at the expense of timing.

The bass is good but I've not been blown away (probably cos I'm not hearing all it can offer) but I'm enjoying it more and more. Always enjoyed the bass playing at the end of this track - sorry, it's quite a crackly copy...

Could you make the same clip with 12/160 and AT95c/AT95e?

Hi Charlie1,
If I may suggest ... don't make fast decision ... let Briks first standard break in time ... but as well to all pre-amps and amp normal break in time ... 110/160/250 // 12/32 also need time ...
I have done mistakes in the past ... so ... don't do it ...
Choose pre and amp that is long in use in your system and enjoy in Briks ... they are great, as are great your other equipment ...
