Is it weird to miss distortion?

Post by bonzo »

Sometimes I find myself longing for the “loud, harsh, distorted sound of certain songs that I play in my 2010 Camry via CD player. It’s mainly the harder rock songs.. Tool, Highly Suspect, and so on. I recently arrived home while listening to a Tool CD and couldn’t wait to hear it on vinyl. While it sounded fantastic I wouldn’t have minded and dare I say missed the distortion. I don’t think I’m referring to compression, although I do know listening fatigue is quite common in my cars CD player. Anxious to hear others thoughts/experiences.
As always,
Thank you for your time

No, it is not weird.

I do miss the Klyde’s ability to get a dense believable “live” sound to hit my ears. The AT33 is a step in the wrong direction for my taste. I like raw PA like sound. This is one of the reasons why I do not like modern hifi systems in general.
