Hi,
I am exploring different ways of going Aktiv.
Has anyone had experience with the B&O Beolab 6000 or 8000 or the new
Beolab 5's and 9's .
These are all Aktiv speakers with built in amps ,so you just plug in from
your pre amp or Kikkin

B & O - maybe is special
Starman,
You better check carefully, whether these B & O active speakers are compatible .
I understand, they (now) use proprietary technology, which won't connect to other brands .
But I'm not sure, if the types you state , also fall into this group.
Regards
Urs

This was the reply from B & O ,
It does say on their web site that these speakers are usable with other systems.
Its very likely that I will stay with Linn ,but I am just curious about other potential routes
We are pleased to see your interest for the BeoLab 9. This loudspeaker has the following connections.
Power Link: Two (use Semi-Balanced PL cable type mkIII, or fully mounted PL cable)
Line-in: Via PL using Line-to-PL adaptor cable, 5m, black, part no.: 6270856
Mains One (two pin male shaver plug type)

Hi Starman!
I think that the main reason you haven't got so many replies to this question is that B&O is not really well seen in any HiFi - communities at all. I would not pay much attention to them if it's sound (not looks) you are after.
Another thing is that "active" can mean different things - quite often, speakers with on-board amplification are referred to as "active", no matter what kind of construction they really are. This is the standard use of the word in recording studio context.
Linns "Aktiv" concept, on the other hand refers to the speaker signal being filtered before the power amplifiers and have nothing to do with having the amps inside the speaker or not.
Hope that I manage to express myself clear enough; I’m really on the edge of my English-skills right now. ;)
