Streaming flac quality internet radio via KRDS

Over the past few weeks I have been experimenting with internet radio stations, and have also purchased a real bargain small internet radio player for the kitchen. Of all the stations, Radio Paradise stands head and shoulders above the rest for me for it's variety, quality and lack of adverts.

I have heard numerous times about the station offering lossless flac streaming which of course is a very attractive proposition for my main Hi-Fi set up, but despite searching the internet, I have not found anything helpful in regards to accessing this stream. So my question is: does anyone use this stream and if so, how does one get it to play via a Linn streamer?

I'm not at home to check, but I think the FLAC is only available on the website. If that is the case, SongCast from a PC to the DS should work.

I have now been able to work how how to use this information. I have been informed that these urls can be added to Tunein favourites, but only on the android app and not on the windows website.

There isn't a url yet for Paradise but I'm assuming one will be around the corner. I have used the one for AI Radio in Matteo's link above, and it works, but seems a bit unstable as it keeps stopping suddenly. I can only assume that these flac streams have not been perfected yet, but somebody else will need to fill in on the technical aspects of why the url is not giving me a perfect stream.

I have used the Paradise Radio website to play a flac stream, but only through my tablet which of course cannot possibly make full use of the quality. I've not found a way yet to play this through my Linn DS.

The last I saw on their website (Sep 2018) was:

We don't currently have a way to provide a stream URL for FLAC. We're investigating possibilities, but our FLAC implementation requires software assistance at the receive end.

I would like to get a FLAC URL as well but looks like its not going to be anytime soon unfortunately

Thanks for the suggestion. Now using songcast and Paradise through the system, does sound well for a radio station

Don't know since when but just found there is now a streaming URL for Radio Paradise in flac and the only drawback is that they say they can't offer it with metadata but just tried it for the first time and the Linn indeed shows this as cd-quality flac stream.

http://stream.radioparadise.com/flac

Using it via Roon that I've just setup but should also work a.o. via custom-URL with TuneIn as far as I can see.

Regards, Louis.

P.S. Just read on RP forum that this is only 21 hours old so stupid luck that I stumbled upon this! 8-)

Reviving this old thread …

And a year later Radio Paradise now has an experimental flac stream WITH metadata.
Just add an "m" at the end of the previous URL and this works with Linn combined with custom-URL for TuneIn as I tested today.
Although it may not yet be fully stable as it took some time without any changes on my side before it worked. At first it didn't work, then later it worked with hiccups and without metadata and yet later again it suddenly worked incl. metadata shown.
Since it started working it has now run for 2 hours continuously I'm happy to report.

Enjoy, Louis.
