Linn AV5125 High Frequency Noise

Post by RonnyO. »

Hello Forum :)

I have a questions and hope you can help me.

I am the owner of two AV5125 power amps; they are both non Dynamik. I am feeding my Espeks actively with these two amps. The amp that is holding the mid and treble card makes a very quiet high frequency "whimpering" sound when it is turned on. You have to put your ear very near to the unit itself to hear it. I noticed it today when I changed the gain on the treble card. You do not hear anything in the speakers, it really is the amp or some of its electronic components that is creating the noise.

Any ideas where this noise comes from? Is it the sound of oncoming death? Is there a fan inside?

The bass card amp is calm. It does not make any noise at all.

Soundwise it seems to be OK.

br,
RonnyO.

There's a fan in there. It can be rather noisy...

Hi,

It's the SMPS power supply and it is normal. Both my 2250 and AV5125 amps make the same whining noise.
