Room Treatments - thoughts and experience.

I am looking into adding room treatments in my condo. Specifically I'd like to use acoustic panels that double as art (pictures). I need the decorative value and figure it just makes sense to combine that with acoustic treatment. I've seen several websites which use various foams and recycled cotton that are covered with printed art on fabric.

Anyone using panels of any sort? Thoughts and experience appreciated.

Also would like to reduce/eliminate the sound through a metal entryway door so I can listen without disturbing other condo owners. I'm willing to use something with less visual appeal in this application if it can be removed when not needed.
