I’ve just come across this comparison of an iPad/iPhone recording a guitar Vs several professional grade microphones.

Very interesting. As a tool for comparing “tune” the iphone/ipad mic used dry (important) is as good or better than the rest. That is what I get out of listening to this youtube video. Simple is better.

The Schoeps are about £2500, the DPA’s about £3000 and the microphone pre is about £2000.

From a tune perspective, I prefer the iThingies too, but i’d like to hear the Schoeps with another pre: I think that could be really interesting (if you’re into that sort of thing! Lol)

I agree the tune is better on the iPhone/iPad mics. I have to question the idea of using an iPad mic and an iPhone mic for stereo, they really couldn't come up with two of the same iPhone? Would they use two other dissimilar mikes for stereo?

I did think there were some nice things about the Schoeps, not nuts about the others and didn't care for what happened when they added the eq.

Just to clarify. I did not talk about the stereo combined iphone/ipad but them used single.

I agree with all of this.
