RSD18 - Piper at the Gates of Dawn?

Post by tokenbrit »

Heard it's good. Has anyone listened yet? If so, how does the mono sound on a stereo setup?

Also, did anyone here bag an extra copy, or know of anywhere in the US that might have stock left to sell & ship? Not desperate and not interested in eBay, but would be nice to pick up a copy if poss...

Sadly I was ill that day and didn't leave the house, but a friend of mine snagged a copy and I'm looking forward to hearing it. I'm generally not a fan of reissues/remasters but I can't remember the last time I saw a copy of Piper for sale. Beggars can't be choosers. ;-)

What intrigued me most was the vinyl issue of Billy Breathes by Phish. I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for a copy but I'm sure prices will skyrocket rapidly.

Here's one review by "Alwills" of this from Discogs: "Having picked up the original U.K. pressing more years ago than I care to remember for next to nothing I'm in the fortunate position of being able to do a side by side comparison.

This new version is pretty faithful to the original, not quite the same, it doesn't always give you the 'the band are in the room with you' experience of the original and sounds a tad forensically recreated in places, but a decent remaster all the same.

Not keen on the unnecessary fancy packaging, but that's just a personal opinion as it's a faff to remove the LP from the envelope sleeve.

It's worth picking up for around £25 - £30,, don't pay silly money kids!"

£18.99 is the 2016 release. The RSD18 version is £28.99... And they don't seem to ship outside of the UK, unfortunately.
