What I only could hope for has happened. My quest has ended. I have found what I have been searching for. There is a direct connection between recorded music and live music but all too often it disappears on the way to the listener.
The only difference I can think of now listening at home in front of my system is the sheer power an amplified live playing band can hit your ears with.
Musicians can be indifferent to hifi systems because they do not present a sound that they can relate to.
I would like to thank all the people who has helped me on the way. You have been a big part of my quest lending me your ears not being too harsh on me when I have been fooling around not knowing exactly what I was doing.
Special thanks goes to Fredrik for not kicking me out! :-) I cannot see myself using a lot of money on hifi in the near future but I really hope the best for you and your hifi equipment.
To ThomasOK for also being generous with his help and playing along on the "playground" tread. It shines through your writing that you are a great and generous person.
Finally to Charlie1 who has been a big part of my "life" on this forum and who has been good at keeping me on my toes regarding how to get the best out of my posted clips. I almost feel I know you even if I don't! :-)

I expect my writing on this forum to disappear slowly over time but I just like to say that music is great but the real deal is the people you "meet" on your way.

It is always great to hear that somebody has attained that level of happiness with their system. Strange as it may seem I have actually had systems that remained relatively stable for a number of years. From 1988 through 1998 my system was an LP12 Valhalla/Ittok LV11/Troika (Karma from 88-90) into LK1/LK2 and Isobariks. Of course, at the time I was working in the computer industry so I didn't have the constant temptation of being around this stuff. ;-) Then I discovered eBay and got myself up to LP12/Cirkus/Ekos2/Arkiv, LK1, Aktiv crossover, 4-LK280/SPARKS and the same Isobariks for several years. Once I returned to the Hi-Fi industry I went through a few upgrades culminating in a maxed out LP12, Klimax Kontorl and ATC SCM100ASL active speakers in 2004. I kept the preamp (upgrading as appropriate) and speakers for almost ten years, with whatever the latest upgrades were applied to the turntable.

Then Fredrik entered the scene and eventually released the Sagatun and Sagatun Mono. After hearing the Sagatun Mono show a clean pair of heels to the Klimax Kontrol I immediately replaced the Klimax Kontrol with them. Then along came this JBL 3677 thing and the rest is history. I haven't listened to the OFIL stand under the JBL 4645C sub yet (the living room is full of IKEA kitchen cabinets, etc. at present) but if they make the kind of improvement they did to the 3677s it will be quite a boon. I also have to torque the Marchand crossover. These changes will happen in late August/early September so I have plenty of time to listen to and optimize the system before I drag it all to RMAF in October. But I have a feeling my main system is likely to remain stable for another long period (except for whatever upgrades Fredrik and Linn come up with). I am already looking at setting up a secondary system in a different room, probably with a Boazu and my MM LP12, so that I can play around with various other speakers and see how they are. But I could certainly live happily with the system as it is now for a long time.

Anyway, thanks for the compliment, congrats on reaching a level of high musical enjoyment and hopefully you won't be a stranger. I would love to get over to the UK and to Sweden and meet the many friends I have made online. I also feel like I already know many of you.

The biggest surprise to me ThomasOK is that besides getting the music right using the tune method has given me a sound (yes sound) from my system that is "holographic" and with no hot spots with too much bass anywhere in my room. I am amazed.

No, I do not have the money. Family comes first at the moment!:-) I am searching for the right place to get my lk100 recapped. That is the cheapest way I can continue to enjoy my collection of records.
