It's probably best if Ofil himself describe the details but I give it a shot.
The sub frames separate the top plate from the bottom frame:
- a frame with tube columns and solid top plate/bottom plates (like the 3677 Ofil Stand sub frame) This was the best alternative.
- as above but solid columns
- as above but no top/bottom plates (=no frame, just solid columns)
- a solid piece (no frame)

Yes, the sub filter is active. Sorry.

Great, great sound from your clips. A very convincing showcase for your system and the JBL speakers.

I regularly delete clips from my dropbox to make room for new clips.

Thanks!
In a few days I'm going to delete these and upload the 3rd and 4th files so please take the opportunity to have a go on 1st and 2nd...

PS
It's even better now as the Tarandus has matured a bit more since these 4 recordings were made. Love it!

Thanks for sharing ML. I wasn't quite sure what I was looking at to begin with, then worked out it was a big TV in front of the rack. They both sound great although I'm sure it's only a vague impression of the real thing. Look forward to more.

My drop box page will store about a dozen before I need to start deleting but my old iPhone 4 probably doesn't record at very high resolution compared to newer models. My wife got an iPhone 7 for Xmas so I will have to try that sometime.

Correct. It originally was on the wall behind the racks but due to all testing 2016 it was removed. Not in use in about a year...
Had it in the visiters bedroom but after 6 months the family asked me to remove it. It decrease the musicality when standing in the music room.

Really nice clips, ML.
Plans to upgrade to KDS/3 or to the upcoming Lejonklou streamer?

What is really interesting to me is that you obviously has overcome most of the problems with taking care of the stream from start to when it reaches your streamer. Has this been difficult?

Yes, it has been difficult, see the Linnofil Super NAS thread and the Optimizing your DS thread. Best for now is not best forever and work in this area will continue, as in all other area in music reproduction.

I will never stop upgrading. Next step is upgrading the two last remaining Tor to Mimer shelves. After that, not decided yet.

I just received word that my Marchand crossover shipped. I look forward to seeing if it will be musically superior to the Dahlquist. I ended up getting a different model than the one I had originally intended to. This model doesn't allow you to change frequencies on the fly but is actually much more flexible and Phil Marchand said the magic words: "This one is more musical than the other."

For those interested the one I ordered is the XM44. A basic version of this that would be sufficient for a sub crossover would run about $800 vs. the $850 for the XM66 I had been looking at. However, instead of ordering the basic 1 way model I went ahead and ordered a 3 way version (you can get up to four way). I also ordered the better stepped attenuators that allow 1/2dB adjustments of level instead of 1dB increments. With this model it would be possible to go full active with the JBLs if I wanted to litter my room with Tundra Monos! It did, however, boost the price to $1600. Internally it is interesting in that it uses plug in cards that are quite inexpensive and there are three card slots for each channel and division. So you could combine the rolloff card with the subsonic filter card and even an eq card if desired. It also has a summing switch for the low frequency section for use with a single sub.

As ordered it will come set for 80Hz at 24dB per octave rolloff of the sub and with an 18db per octave 22Hz subsonic filter. These are the settings Fredrik and Jajo found to be the best which theoretically gives it an advantage over the Dahlquist which has no subsonic filter and an 18dB slope to the sub. It will be very interesting to see how it fares. If I find it to be a better option than the Dahlquist I will also be able to be a dealer for his products.

One of these are the (in)famous Metallica Death Magnetic. Quite good in a decent hifi-system despite labeled as unlistenable by many audiophiles

Sounds fab ML. Some might think that's crazy to think you can get any idea what a system sounds like but I reckon these clips do give us some insight, especially having recorded quite a few of my own. Definitely one of the best I've heard, if not the best, in my humble opinion. Can hear the transparency of those JBLs too. Keep on rockin' in the free world!

Even through my iPad Pro speakers track two sounded fab. Bags of energy and musical power. Thanks for sharing, however I'm intrigued to find out what you're hiding behind the telly!

Took some photos, only for you :)

The LS-NAS is under the purple t-shirt (PSU on top due to space constraints in the NAS)
The wine box contains both 3677-filters
The sub filter is on an Yggdrasil rack behind the Harmoni racks
My Oppo105 hasn't been in use either for a year. Too busy with testing/tuning.

The painting on the wall is an interim (using one of the two fasteners to the TV)
And the white pillows on the left side is a part of the acoustic treatment. You also see a few acoustic panels. Most musical JUST like they are positioned. The sub should NOT have damping behind but the 3677's should.
In MY room that is!!!!
= Concrete floor with parquet, 20cm concrete walls with wood board + plasterboard layers back and left. All inner walls in the house have 2*(wood board + plasterboard) layers with sound isolation in the middle.
All ceilings and doors in the house are sound isolated. (plus a thick glass door to the music room)

With the sub I can't play as loud as before in the night. Around volume 20-30 is ok now.

VERY impressive clips and set-up, ML!
What is now the exact distance (from inner side to inner side) between your 3677s?

It does sound really good .

I suspect the little box, mysteriously shrouded in the purple T shirt and resting on its dedicated support is as important as the KDS/2 and its dedicated support.
