Good to hear from so many members!

One small setup change can make a Big difference. At first I thought I was onto something but………

back to M). Thank you all. :-)

M is for Music - elements hold together, and support the rhythm & music. N is just not - it feels exaggerated and disjointed with no connection between voice and percussion, losing the music in the process.

I enjoyed M; felt like stopping N almost immediately - surprising, and not had a negative experience with your clips previously.
It could be that I have reached the limit for what I can get out of this CD player. :-)

I just removed one small piece of felt that supports the powercable just before it enters the CD player. It is now back in place again. :-)

Setup M) https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/fyc08klj ... 29vcp&dl=0

Setup N) https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/lqn4mws6 ... 9ebl7&dl=0

This little change is just a small part of the treatment of the powercable along the way from the wall to the CD player. The only difference between M) and N) can be seen above.

I wonder if you have everything so optimised now that it is super sensitive to any change that disrupts that status.

With apologies to Simon and Garfunkel:

There are patterns in the music
That you can hear with M
But in listening to N
You won't hear them again

So I would stick with M
Where the music makes my day
And enjoy the lovely patterns
That N just - takes away

By the way, clip M forced me to immediately find the lyrics and listen to the complete song. What a simple yet powerful and immediate piece of music!

Just listening to it on YouTube (admittedly through JBL LSR305s) brought a tear to my eye. I'm afraid of the effect if/when I go pull out the LP.

Just wow beck, great work!

That’s just crazy! It makes me think, with my vipers nest of wires, I’m not getting the best out of my system. Thanks for sharing this beck, it’s a lesson to us all!

Just remember that any setup is different and I do think that not using a conventional preamp makes my system more vulnerable to unwanted vibration.
Then again digital is weird. :-)

I can recall the founder of VIVA Audio, Amedeo, while setting up a complete system one of our dem rooms at the time would use wool pad sheets that he would cut to size on the fly -adding, stacking, twisting, removing again- on all the components after initial setup to fine tune the system to some pretty interesting results at times, but that little felt change that you made was so large tune wise that it makes me wonder if perhaps some other factors like AC or warm up were also perhaps contributing factors? ...Almost makes me want to revisit speaker cable ladders/elevators again, Lol.

The change is clear and happens instantly when I go from M) to N) and back again. :-)

No doubt, the Nait 1 focus on the things that matters most to me…….

Yes, really interesting. I can see Nait 1’s going up in value yet again. Charlie1’s museum must be raising in value faster than gold! 😁

Me too. I sold one to a dealer about 15 years ago for £225 when they were selling on eBay for about £275

I like TheAlphaAudio. It's one of the few hifi channels on Youtube where they do notice when something is musical and can communicate the reasons why it's musical.

The same for me .
I had the red light version and swapped it for a new Linn Intek many years ago . Looking back, it didnt seem to be much of an improvement in the tune departement . But the Intek was more powerful .

Right now Im looking for equally good or better sounding class D poweramps and some amplifiers that uses the tpa3251 chip seems very promising .

( No wonder Selekt DSM and Majik DSM4 sounds good )

I wonder if Linn use the tpa3251 because it sounds good, or because they can buy an amplifier on a chip for only £3.50 🤔

I think both might be true. Better sound and not to expensive makes a good reason to use it.

The former used chipamp TDA7293 in klimax poweramp was also inexpensive and goodsounding in a good implementation .

Sorry for OT .

Agreed. I certainly enjoyed the Nait 1 more than the other two. And, yes, I used to have one and sold it as well. But if I kept every good piece of Hi-Fi I have ever owned I'd need another house just to keep them in. As it is I have three pair of Isobariks while I am using Quad ESLs as my main speaker.
