Struggling to find much of a musical preference.

They do sound a bit different.

If pushed, I’d go for 1 cos I can forget it’s a hifi whereas 2 seemed a bit too etched.

thank you for your feedback and its nice to have confirmation to what I hear - Clip 2 feels more „in the face“ or etched to me too.

I find them relatively close but I prefer clip 1. Clip 2 is energetic but I'm not sure it is in a good way. Clip 1 just sounds more natural to me and I find myself drawn into the voice more.

Hmmmm .....

I have the same feeling as you describe ThomasOK, BUT for Clip 2, that's why I prefer it ...
May be I'm wrong, you 2 vote for clip 1 ...

It's time for theory and practicing Tune Method, going back to start position ...

Sorry if with my vote make confusion ...

dont worry about that there are more tests to come - I realized after reading about the Harmoni racks that I might should have given the wood which was involved more time to set.

Don't worry Vlado, I am with you. Clip 2 for me too, as I said. It seemed to me that the singer was telling a story in a very expressive and exciting way (unfortunately I don't understand the lyrics). I didn't experience this tension in the whole song in Clip1.
However, the sound seemed a bit sharp...

the difference between the two clips is when you look at the wooden support for the Sagatuns in the second clip are washers between the wooden columns that support the horizontal wooden level whereas
in clip 1 direct connection between both and yes the second clip has a sharpness I dont like

Whenever I open the LP12 lid in the bedroom, the stylus wobbles. This made me question if it's working at it's best. The issue is that the floor is uneven, so I'm having to prop the Lack table up with layers of card under two of the legs. Thought I'd try a stone slab underneath and prop that up instead. It's definitely more solid and the cart doesn't move when I open the lid but not sure it sounds any better.

Trying to take a leaf out of Hermann's book and be a bit more patient so these are taken on different days to let the slab and deck settle in.

What's the Catch?

On a "Slab" Clips there is some kind of aggressiveness from mid to high freq. So my vote go to "Normal".

From point of view of Musicality (or following the tune) Slab have very slight advantage, but because of aggressiveness (long time listening factor) my vote go Normal ...

No slab!

Charlie,
another possibility to stabilize is leaving the feets rest on the normal floor but putting the slab inbetween the feet. This is a different setup because your table is than grounded to the floor and the floor is stabilized with the slap.
With the slap the way you did it it creates a mass where the table sits on - a mass which eats up energy ( in theory ;))

Just a thought.

I like it Defender - I will give it a go!! Good idea

Thanks all !

I was coming around to 'no slab' too but it wasn't clear to begin with. Easier to comment on other peoples clips i think

not saying it will be better maybe your setup sounds best with the floor you have but this is the setup I am also trying in all my steps to improve the support for the devices.

Curious to hear whether Defender's suggestion works. It sounds like your LP12 could benefit from a more stable base, but the slab weighs down the music... Maybe adjustable spikes for the Lack?

The slab is gone.

Hail the new slabs!...

Mini Slabs: https://www.dropbox.com/s/brq9v6ol4nuhc ... 0.mp4?dl=0

Had to record a new 'normal' cos the Lingo table has moved position and I think I've got the deck a bit more stable now.

Normal for me.
Mini Slabs sound like ... missing some energy from time to time ...
Both Normal sound very very good ... like Sara is closing the circle ...

Yep, no slab on the first two sets of clips. Definitely better without.
