Thank you for listening to all.

The usefulness of the playground never stops to amaze me!

Perhaps there is another way that Fredrik mentions.

I'm quite sure that is what he means!

Hi guys,

here a comparison of two DACs. Which one do you prefer?

18 https://storage.googleapis.com/cloudpla ... tes/18.wav

19 https://storage.googleapis.com/cloudpla ... tes/19.wav

The volume is not the same, sorry.
Thanks for voting.

I hear 18 as having a better focus (not as spread out sound) making the music more believable. I prefer 18.

I also prefer 18, but for different reasons: 19 sounds a little more raw

Due to the music being alien to my western pitch trained brain I couldn’t reliably choose the more tuneful of the two.

Matt
Much easier! 29 sounds flat/out of tune/discordant compared to 28

I stick my chin out and vote for 29. Lovely music btw. To me it seemed like the violin sang more natural and "spoke more" in 29. Close call.

I preferred 18 over 19, but think I prefer 29 over 28 - would like to hear a different song, though, as this track is a little too instrument focused...

Hi Matthias,
I'm not familiar with this kind of music, it's difficult for me to make decision ...

Thanks all for voting :-)

FYI:

The clips 18 and 29 were from the ECDesigns PowerDAC-R, a 1450 Euro device, which got 6 votes

The clips 19 and 28 were from the Khadas Tone Board, a 100 Euro device, which got 3 votes.

The original file:

https://storage.googleapis.com/cloudpla ... ortes.flac

My personal vote gets the Khadas, I think it is a little bit closer to the original file.

It's an interesting variation of Debussy.
