We agree Leo. :-)

It seems that getting my ears in tweeter height is the way to do it to experience the best sound in my room from cd.
Well, that's very wierd. I also hear a big difference. However, I actually prefer A. B seems a bit stiff to me.

All my talk about Linn amps and I just can't get past the timing. What good is the deeper meaning if I'm working harder to make sense of the music in another way.

Pretty happy with this in the study (apart from the asthetics):

Lovely Charlie1. Great music.

Kairn/Klout is not for me either used in your setups.

Thanks beck. Must admit I was a bit fed up with it earlier today so I appreciate your comments. It is a long and winding road, not helped by me as I keep paying for more road construction up ahead.

Here is flush with the top of the speakers angle C between the two others A and B:

Interesting that it makes such a difference in my room.

That's a more balanced sound. A was quite bass heavy with my headphones but C is fine.

I wonder, is this more acute with the recording device that your ears? I mean, is it less of a big deal in the room?

Yes, it is more a recording “problem” than anything I think of when listening.

Found a much better place for the Linn amps although we've always been quite happy with the inbuilt one in the Sneaky:

Your study system sounds really fab. It’s hard to know for sure how this particular combination compares to all of your others, but I’ve a feeling that this is right up near the top, if not the best of all. It seems to be “more right” than even your other good combinations It’s a shame about the lack of deep bass, but that’s Kans for you! They really are one of the most musical speakers ever built. Very enjoyable👍

It is coming together nicely for you Charlie1. Right in time before Christmas! :-)

Your previous study arrangement gave a special sound that I think you should reinvestigate when possible. The more space between the amps and the lingo in the middle worked quite well I think.

I have fine tuned my D) setup.

Good afternoon Charlie, both of your systems sound musical to me and certainly fitting for their roles! The combined Linn & Naim system sounds great, in addition to looking very retro! It's nice to see the Linn Lingo 1 again, I always liked mine back in the day. Plus, it didn't consume lots of space on the audio rack. Does your Lingo still have the original capacitors, or has it been rebuilt or recapped?

Cheers

They are late mk 1s with the same bass unit as the Kan 2. Tbh, at this age, I suspect it makes more difference how they've been looked after. These were one owner and insitu for 30+ years with K20 buried in the walls. I doubt they ever played much rock music and were kept in use rather than stored in attics, garages, etc.

Hi Tony. Thanks. Yeah, I like the little L1 box. This one has been serviced by Class A using Linn components and also had the mains filter removed so that it plays nicely with Naim amps.

I will investigate.

The Kairn/Klout sound better now they've warmed up too. Starting to think it would be a shame to sell them on.

D might be “better” but E is the one that makes me sing along loudly like when listening to cd’s in my car!

Beat that one! :-)
