Sound quality Akurate Kontrol

Hi all,
I want to replace my Kisto with an Akurate Kontrol processor.
The Kisto sounds fine, but is bulky, gets hot and the fan is annoying.
Besides, I never used the video switching.
But- will this be a setback for sacd and cd sound?
Anyone?

Hi barend and welcome to the forum.
I've not heard the Akurate Kontrol. I don't know if you're in the UK, but for just another £500 you could get an ex-demo Klimax Kontrol from Peter Tyson (see their website). They usually charge £5000, so it's a £1000 cheaper than normal, although it could be quite an old unit.
From what I've read, the KK is the ultimate and a good deal better than the Akurate. Just an idea. Charlie1.

I agree that the only way UP is to head for a Klimax Kontrol.

All other preamps will be a step DOWN from the Kisto.

Akurate kontrol will be much worse than Kisto. Kinos is a unbalanced version of Kisto and might suffice though! The software is identical? between Kisto/Kinos and Kisto does not have a single extra feature except for balanced input/outputs.

it is not just unbalanced, kisto also uses more complex or just "more" dsp and other components per channel than kinos. but kinos is the little brother of kisto.
think the ranking was also stated here:

klimax - kisto - kinos -akurate - majik

akruate is the exotic+da, more or less. kinos also offers some video switching stuff, which i never used, only enjoyed the audio part. i have switched from kisto to kinos. kinos is looking for a new owner.
