Internet radio / Streaming audio - when is Linn doing it.
Linn has a new product: Akurate Tuner. Why didn't they make this thing capable of streaming music via the web? (similar to a SlimDevice) Seems like a lost opportunity.
Although it would be nice to see Linn support Internet radio I don't think the Akurate Tuner is the right place to handle it. Decoding web radio would require a DAC and the ability to receive data vie ethernet or wirelessly which is really beyond the scope of a tuner which is designed to pick up radio stations broadcast over the air. Although I suppose that the DAB version of the tuner must have some kind of DAC so it might not require that mush extra hardware.
The more sensible place to include web radio is on the DS products. I am somewhat surprised that Linn don't support it as it is one of the more popular capabilities on the Squeezebox. I know a lot of it is not of the highest quality but I think Linn should at least make the capability available and leave that choice to the customers.
