Linn has announced the Akurate "System" today. The Akurate components consist of the following units:
Akurate CD player for $7495US. This is based on the UniDisk 1.1 but has no video circuitry and will therefore not play DVD-Vidoe discs. It does play CD, SACD and DVD-Audio with the last two in stereo or multi-channel. It reportedly sounds the same as the UniDisk 1.1.
Akurate Tuner price to be announced. There will be two versions: an FM/AM and a DAB/FM/AM. This will be Linns first DAB tuner so those of you in countries with that system have something to look forward to. No ship date yet on the tuners.
Akurate Kontrol preamplifier for $5670. A rebadged new Exotik at the same price as the unit it replaces. It has a MM/MC phono stage and the same multi-channel capabilities as the new Exotik. I believe it will come pre-configured for stereo usage but can be set for multi-channel through the setup functions.
Akurate 2200, 3200 and 4200 power amps for $4430, $5440, $6450. Rebadged Chakra Cx200 amps available with either unbalanced or balanced inputs.
All units except the tuner start shipping today and the first public showing will be at the High End Show in Munich, Germany starting May 17th.
In addition all Chakra Cx100 amps will be renamed Majik eg: Majik 6100 and will be available only with unbalanced inputs.

New Akurate Components

Linn have announced that the Akurate Tuner will start shipping July 2nd at a price of $1895US. The US version does not include DAB as the European one does so it might be a bit higher in price. We were told that it is a very good sounding tuner although no comments yet as to whether or not it is in the Kremlin league.
