I understood your answer from before back
Spannko - that must make you smile 😊
I agree the new ones have more tune and more structure.
Now its starting to become like a sport for me to beat Option 1 without an obvious upgrade.

Hmmm ..... :-)Defender wrote: ↑2020-03-22 18:19 I know I should give you another song but as I have the recording from yesterday and only one thing changed (Linn Silver RCA) I thought I can take the one form yesterday:
Option 1

Option 2

uups recorded the wrong song so here you have a different song

Option 2 might have a slight disadvantage as just 5 hours continuous play after the change and its still bright outside so the solar panels from the neighbors might pollute my energy supply ;)
Option 1 is more open, detailed and impressive sound ...
BUT ...
Option 2 have more magic, rhythm, beside that first impression is dark ... or something like that sound ...
I will not say that Option 1 is better, I will just give 40+h of playing time to Option 2.
And be careful with your neighbors ... ;-)

hi Vlado thank you for your comment - maybe I see what others say.
But I hear more tune from option 1
I think Sade is a really good band for tune dem.

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices
this is what Fredrik told me - the new ones are a safer bet nowadays.
You might get a better pair of the old ones if you are lucky but its more risky to get one which is not as good as the newer ones.
Currently the pair which I had going to my Akurate DS is moved to the Linto and will make a recording in the afternoon to compare to the Option 1 - both are new types of Linn Silvers.

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices
I preferred whichever option I played first. It's as if my brain got into sync with that and so the other clip was always worse.
Re: Playground for practical listening exercices
Just "burn-in" both cables (old, medium - old, medium - new, new or ... ) = put both cables at the "same start position" ...
Than, all of us, with Tune Method, will say what we find out ...

I prefer the more funky option 1 (second generation Linn Silver), although there's something nice about option 2 as well.Defender wrote: ↑2020-03-22 18:19 I know I should give you another song but as I have the recording from yesterday and only one thing changed (Linn Silver RCA) I thought I can take the one form yesterday:

I have stopped recommending original Linn Silver [unbalanced analogue interconnects], because they vary so much in quality. A few are absolutely magical, but many sound rather muffled and tired. It seems most of the pairs sold second hand these days are of the tired variety. I know that already a decade ago, some enthusiasts bought lots of them second hand, compared them, kept the best and sold on the bad ones.
What I'm longing to hear is a comparison between the second generation Linn Silver and the third one - the one that Anthony mentioned recently, on which it says 'Analogue Interconnect II'. No idea what differs or whether it's actually better. Before I buy a pair I'd like to know.
Re: Playground for practical listening exercices
just to clarify
Option 1 is second generation Silver as Fredrik pointed out - not the newest latest „Analogue Interconnect II“

Another win for the playground. Great stuff. Keep ‘em coming 😎

in case you want to hear the comparison between the 3pairs - I made my mind up ;) maybe no surprise for Beck

It really is quite amazing what the “right” pair of interconnects can do to a system. Your option 1 is a joy to listen to. :-)

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices
it is - thats why I said it might not come as a surprise for you Beck
my big learning is that even small things which we assume to make no big difference - actually can make a big difference - its so easy to make „sure“ you get less out of your system.
But to make the best out of your system
1 no assumptions but try
2 question almost everything
3 help from nice people
I think I owe some of you a beer and more ... I am really grateful for this place.

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices
Amen to those three rules!
I just received some clips of the second versus third generation of unbalanced Linn Silver Analogue Interconnects. The third is the latest type that says 'Analogue Interconnect II' on the cable.
Although the difference didn't seem massive, the third version felt more intimate and musical.
I'm getting a pair!

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices
I prefer the old room but it takes time to make the most of a newly setup system - hopefully it's just that and not the room itself.
Re: Playground for practical listening exercices
I am with Charlie and like the grey room better - it has more base fundament whereas the new room sounds more like there is a more dry atmosphere. You probably have also been sitting more far away while recording?

It sounds bigger and with less things in it. And there seems to be a baby in it as well. :)
Re: Playground for practical listening exercices
I prefer new room, sax sounded more groovy and track sounded less dreary, the old by comparison seemed to dragging the track back
I know that tune

For me New Room sound better too ...
Background / Reason:
Old room, comparing to New room, sound like with "Loudness ON" or "Bass Boost" on some headphones ...
New room, have Cristal Clear, Precise and Go Very Low in Low Frequency Spectrum which continue to the Medium ... Vocal is as well more natural ... This remind me on Linn Isobarik low frequency quality ... which have the best low frequency quality on planet :-) and until today unsurpassed ...
If I may suggest use this procedure:
https://www.lejonklou.com/forum/viewtop ... ion#p39464
for Loudspeaker fine positioning, it's work, it's perfect ... Defender (as well others)use it and have excellent result ... Defender goes in "mm" in set-up of loudspeakers and result is very visible ...
I hope that you will have also excellent result and be happy with new room set-up, as well your Baby and family :-)

Re: Playground for practical listening exercices
To me, the main difference is tonal, which you’ll soon get used to. Fundamentally, they sound similar, which means that you should enjoy listening in your new room just as much as in your old room. (Unless there are some major tonal problems which don’t record well).kallesprätt wrote: ↑2020-03-24 10:30 New room, new power cords
