While visiting Tonläget for the demo last week, I had a listen to the Swedish turntable Wallop.
It's an interesting hand-built design in solid wood, with the motor mounted in the plinth and a sub-chassis standing on spikes. Rega motor, round belt and a very expensive main bearing, I was told. Platter in Valchromat was very light.
It sounded really good! According to Anders at Tonläget likely better than all Rega's. I don't know, as we didn't make any comparisons, but it was very musical and enjoyable.
The company will soon introduce a speaker as well. I don't know anything about it, but I'm curious.

Re: Wallop
They’re describing it as a full range speaker called the Oomph. What a brilliant name!lejonklou wrote: ↑2025-03-22 14:37

It looks like Oops are going to start selling in the UK. There’s no mention of a UK distributor, UK retail outlets or whether they’ll be selling direct to customers. Oops are hosting listening sessions near Oxford, UK, where they’ll be demonstrating the Wallop with a Boazu 2 and Oomph speakers on 31 March to 2 April. More details on their website.

Re: Wallop
Very intriguing turntable, and it's at reasonable price range as well $3,700.00 (U.S. currency). I wonder what type of speaker they will make...a stand mount, floor standing or tower?
Thanks for posting!

Re: Wallop
From the last I heard, they will be demonstrating the speakers with Slipsik 8 and vintage Naim amps.
Re: Wallop
Might try and go as it’s not too far.
They have a few amps on their Facebook page, including 62 or 72/HC/140 and Nait.
Nice looking deck!

Re: Wallop
The description of the event on their website has this to say: "In addition to the Wallop™ turntable, the event will feature Oops Audio’s full-range Oomph™ loudspeaker, the Lejonklou Boazu 2 integrated amplifier, Klångedang Jore stand speakers, and the Moonriver Audio Model 404 integrated amplifier."
I'm kinda in love with their concept. I especially get a kick out of their video of a dude with an epic man-bun taking his Wallop for a ride to the local record store on his bakfiets. That right there is next-level utopia.
Re: Wallop
Braziers Park website says Wallop & Oomph with Slipsik 8 & 404 integrated amp, but maybe Fredrik's demo at Tonlaget changed their mind on the amp in favor of the Boazu ;)markiteight wrote:

Re: Wallop
I think the Wallop is a great sounding turntable. I agree that it is probably better than all the Regas but I haven’t done any direct comparisons. To my ears it is also better than the current Majik LP12. But as said before I don’t like the sound of the new Linn lineup as I think it has lost “the swing“
It is impressive that the Wallop can sound so good. It uses the Rega RB330 tonearm. Anders tried a Rega RB2000 on it instead and said that that was a major improvement. They also use a standard Rega motor and the standard Rega power supply for it. Not even the Neo PSU which normally is a rather big improvement on a Rega. From the experience I have with the PSU that Rega uses I think that the Wallop can be massively improved with a better PSU.
Kind regards
Christian

Nice looking speaker! That driver bears a striking resemblance to the Seas FA22RCZ wideband.Fred11 wrote: ↑2025-04-13 10:44 Here is some pictures of the speakers:https://www.instagram.com/oops.audio/p/ ... mg_index=3
If the Oomph can deliver the musical goods it has the potential to be an excellent value, much like the Whallop is shaping up to be. Did anyone attend the event at Braziers Park? I'm very curious to hear peoples' impressions.
