My old AKG K420 stopped working. So I need new headphones that are as good (or better), as efficient and about the same size. They're for portable use only. Any recommendations?
Thanks in advance, and have a Merry Christmas!

Re: Need recommendation for AKG K420 headphones replacement
I’ve had a couple of pairs of K420’s, a larger pair of budget AKG’s, highly recommended Sony’s for £200’ish, and Grado 125’s. Of the three, the Grado’s were OK, the AKG’s were fair to middling, and the Sony’s, pure shite! However, I now use Solo 45’s. They’re a larger (but folding) closed back design, Bluetooth enabled, with noise cancellation for about £100. For the money, they sound great and are reasonably musical. Listening to Spotify on an iThingy is just about OK, from a musical perspective, but sound wise they’re pretty good. I use them for listening to YouTube, or internet radio, and for this, they’re very acceptable. I’m on my second pair, after the first pair broke, and I didn’t even consider changing them for anything else. In addition, Solo’s after sales service is excellent. I’d only had my first pair for 18 months when I accidentally broke a hinge. They couldn’t be repaired, so the company supplied a new pair for half price.

Re: Need recommendation for AKG K420 headphones replacement
I was in the exact same situation with my AKG K420 being worn out. I was very happy to find the perfect replacement in a NOS (new old stock) product from Beyer Dynamic DT131. It's just the same type of 'giant killer' natural 'no-nonsense' musical sound. I'll offer you even greater bargain than AKG K420! I don't remember if I did a tune dem but I believe them to sound better, thay are a bit more solid both in construction, and sound quality. The headphones "grills" is very easily replaceable if the foam feels old due to age. Price is only £25 + shipping for a brand new pair (old stock) if you p.m me. All enquiries welcome..
the players of instruments shall be there..

I really like my Grado 125x headphones.
You can have my k420s if you like @whatsmynaim - I hardly used them.
