Are you 100% sure that these are in room recordings?
I think so. The Spotify versions of the tracks sound quite different through headphones.

OK, btw it is always fun to compare the in-room recordings to the Spotify versions through HPs.

I have heard them reveal musical qualities, which aren't even hinted at in these recordings. And yes, I could tell an Ekos SE/1 from an Ekos SE in clips posted here...

I wonder if the clips reveal more about the way the way the speakers are being powered then? I think they are all passively driven and tri-amped with the Selekt amp modules. From all of our past experiences, passive tri-amping is unlikely to provide the most musical result - possibly very impressive in the room, but lacking musical engagement.

I don't believe that is passively tri-amped. The updated version of the Selekt DSM introduced along with the speakers has the ability to actively drive two or three way speakers with the DAC and amp modules that can be installed. They state that it is driven in Exakt mode which indicates active. Also all the hardware is there with the modules they mention to go tri-amp active so it would make little sense to run it passive.

Right. The “3 way organik dac” gave it away. I didn’t notice that.

If this was the recording made at Tonläget a few years back that was floating around for a while, it's worth mentioning that that wasn't an in-room microphone recording at all, it was a stored Songcast stream from a Linn KDSM - something I would trust far more than a mobile phone recording!

Not sure I understand: what would be 'trustworthy' about a stored Songcast stream, rather than an in-room recording, when posting a video of speakers?

Oh, nothing at all. It would be useless in that context.

Sorry if I was unclear. My response was in relation to Tendaberry's post defending the use of clips for comparison, taking as an example using clips to tell tonearms apart. My point was simply that not all clips are created equal, and not all clips are mobile phone recordings.
