Linn price increase February 2025

Post by ThomasOK »

Linn have released new price lists for February and a lot of items have gone up in price. The price increases are generally in the 5 to 10% range and affect many LP12 components including both Radikals, the Keel, Ekstatik, Kandid, Ekos SE, Lingo 4, Arko and others. It also includes some relatively new products like the 360 speakers. Some of the upgrades have also gone up. I believe these take effect February 1, 2025 so orders placed before then should be filled at current pricing.

😳 Impressive that they are still raising prices.

I remember when I bought my first LP12 in December 1983,.then all my friends wondered how I could buy such an expensive turntable 😁.

My son's generation,.he is 33 years old and works as a Civil Engineer, earns well..!!
He and everyone in his circle of acquaintances are completely uninterested in music-systems at this price level.

When we die,.well then there won't be many customers left for Linn to live on.

Just some spontaneous thoughts on a Saturday afternoon...

Will the new price increase impact the Utopik upgrade for Klimax Radikal (if there is such an upgrade)?

Cheers

The only part of the Linn train that I'm still riding is the Sondek LP12. And as long as they can improve it's performance, I will continue to support their new products no matter the cost. Each new part that's been installed continues to bring out more music from my vinyl collection, and that is crazy cool for me. Sure the new LP12 parts can cost a major penny at times, but ultimately it's worth the investment in my situation.

I have essentially given up on Linn phono stages, preamps, and power amps since Fredrik started making such great electronic components.

For the last 25 years I have received a salary increase every year. I don't know for sure, but I doubt that this or something similar is unusual in Europe for professions with cutting-edge expertise where the individual and their knowledge and qualities are the value for the employer.
I think it is reasonable that the cost of a product or service produced in Europe increases by a few percent every year. It is part of macroeconomics and inflation.

Something that I dislike, however, is price campaigns. In the long term, there is nothing to be gained from it. The only thing that is achieved is postponed or unplanned purchases.

The latest Linn UK pricelist was from 19 Dec 2024. Does this mean a new pricelist in less than two months?

The price increase will be in less than one month now...and I'm trying to figure out how much the Radikal Utopik will cost After February 1, 2025.

Yes, but I wouldn't state it that way. Linn comes out with a new price list whenever a new product comes out or is discontinued. Over the last number of years they have also come out with a new price list with various price increases in the beginning of the year. The surprise to me is that expensive products that have only been on the market for under two years are going up too.

The Utopik power supply upgrade is one of the products that hasn't gone up this year. It is still $1755 US for most units. There is no good reason for a Utopik for Radikal costing any more than the others.

Plus another one. This is also true for a good number of my Lejonklou customers. I am guardedly hopeful that Linn can continue to make better components and parts for the LP12, but I have a spare Ekstatik just in case.
