LP12 Power Supply Upgrade Options

Post by springwood64 »

I currently have Lingo 1 and am considering updating the power supply with a used option.

Anyone have any experience comparing Klimax Radikal 1 Vs Akurate Radikal 2?

Not directly. But I have experienced ARad 1 (mine) vs ARad 2 vs KRad 2. ARad 2 brings something very distinct, a musicality upgrade to both realism and interplay. KRad 2 then added an extra level of refinement, almost cleanliness.

Initially I held off an upgrade from ARad 1, as I wanted the KRad 2 and couldn't make the money-maths work. Eventually I settled for the upgrade board only, i.e. ARad 2 which left money for a replacement Kandid. I'm very happy that I did because old Kandid to new Kandid was MUCH more than my memory of ARad 2 to KRad 2. I suspect I'll not bother with KRad 2 at all, as when (if?) Utopik arrives for Radikal, I'd expect it to also have a more fundamental musical impact than the casework.

I would go for KRad 1, you can always upgrade that to KRad 2 for a relatively small outlay. You will be astonished by the upgrade from Lingo 1 to KRad 1 anyway. I went from ARad 1 to KRad 2, which was one of the biggest LP12 upgrades I've made.

I don't think you'll find any Rad 2s just yet but plenty of Rad 1s that have been upgraded. Depending on the price, this should be a great upgrade to your LP12.
