Linn M109 system fit?

Post by Winston67 »

A few years ago I did the SEAS woofer upgrade on my M109 loudspeakers, and the difference was stunning. In the intervening time I’ve slowly upgraded my system and now have a Rega P8, a Lejonklou Entity and (very soon) a Naim Supernait 3 (which will replace the tiny Exposure XM5). Also use a REL subwoofer that complements the 109s well. I have been very happy with the 109s, but do you think that they may now be holding this “source first” system back (opposite of the “mullet”)? I know very little about loudspeakers, whether and to what extent speaker technology has passed the 109s by and what an appropriate system match is. Interested in your thoughts. Thanks!

I'm not so sure the 109s are the bottleneck in your setup... If possible, borrow a better frontend to see what's possible.

They are not a bottleneck to my mind.

Never heard a SEAS modded pair.

I think trial and error. If buying new then defo get a home dem.

What about trying the Boazu 2, in your wonderfull system? Boazu 1 was developed with the 109, I think.

Absolutely not.
