Have You Got SRaT?
Some, if not all of you will be familiar with the term PRaT beloved of the Naim community, which is fine but for me seems to be embodied as a kind of forcefulness that is tiring after an hour or two.
I observed, in my notes when testing Tundra Stereo 2.5 that there was a notably improved sensing of timing over my previous amps and this is probably a major contributor to that sense of the music being more joined up. However, what I don't get from them is the sense of being force fed the music like Naim amps, which I think might be down to that 'pace' element.
So, perhaps what we get with Tundra Stereo 2.5 is SRaT. Superb Rythmn and Timing? Or Sublime Rythmn and timing?

Re: Have You Got SRaT?
I too very much enjoyed the timing improvements from 2.2 to 2.5.
I agree, the rocket fuelled pace element is not very nice. Worst I've heard at home was the Olive 72/140. I felt like I was on a runnaway train with my eyes on stalks. I'm glad I had the experience though, just to understand. Even an unserviced Nait 1 / Nait 2 had some of this 'force fed' tendancy. They were all a bit out of tune as well. Based on my serviced Nait, I suspect Naim's current components are less 'in your face' and more tuneful than their origionals, although I've not heard their latest models.sunbeamgls wrote:However, what I don't get from them is the sense of being force fed the music like Naim amps, which I think might be down to that 'pace' element.

Re: Have You Got SRaT?
Yes!
When I moved from Naim to Linn amps, the music seemed to relax and have more space to breathe. I found this led to less listening fatigue. Now with Lejonklou there is yet more "space to breathe" combined with greater emotional expression and better timing. Judged quickly, it's easy to miss this, but once spotted it's difficult to live without.

Gotta be tune first, surely :)

If you change Musicality, Connection to Theme, Connection, Harmony, you'd have something ideal for playing a world of discs ;)

Re: Have You Got SRaT?
Am I the only one happy to stick with just plain old Rhythms and Tunes, RATs?

Ha :)
Swedish Tunes And Rhythms (STAR)
PS the recent influx seem to have dissappeared in the night, about as quickly as they arrived. I guess they've decided wigman is ok after all. Can't say I've even looked at it yet.
