I think the ds and dvc components of both are supposed to be similar, with kds/2 having the edge with analogue out.

If you think dvc of kds/2 is good then you should really try it with sagatun monos.

Interesting discussion, I have taken the Exakt route so I am "stuck" with DVC (I assume that the volume control in Exakt is digital). It is tempting to set up a couple of KK or Sagatun between the Exakt out and the amplifiers and see if there are any sonic improvements to have by setting a higher volume on the Aedsm than normal...
Since I am running Tukans I just need to borrow 4 Sagatun monos... :D

Cheers, Niclas

There are reports on the 'Lejonklou- Lejonklou / Tundra 2 section' : of Exaktbox to Tundra 2 stereo amplifiers sounding very good with 212/242s.

But Exaktbox to preamps and then amps ?

I wouldn't be too concerned about the digital volume control specifically, since there are many factors adding to the final sound of a system and the volume control is just one contribution among others. The initial built in DVC in the DSs was not particularly well implemented, but that was fixed with some of the firmware updates (don't remember which, B or C I think). No volume control is perfect, but a well implemented DVC is a lot better than most analogue volume controls so I would suggest one listens for the available options and decide from there.
