I'm in the US, but use the radio source on the DS to listen to stations back in the UK - primarily Heart Sussex, but I've got all the BBC, and Linn stations in my TuneIn presets too, as well as Radio Caroline.
I can listen to Heart Sussex for a few hours at a time without the DS losing the connection, but it seems there's a problem with the stream at the mo' - it was fine this morning. Since Heart is down, I tried a few other presets running through my local, US stations - they connect OK, which is why I think it's Heart that has a temporary issue, but the connections to US Internet radio stations seem to drop frequently, like every few minutes, rather than every few hours. That makes them unlistenable.
I switched to Radio Caroline, and all is good so I know it's not my DS or my Internet provider - it must be the US (local) stations. I tried up to 5 different ones and they all demonstrate the same behaviour: dropping after just a few minutes. It's maddening. Just wondering if anyone else has the same issue?
I'd expect US to be better since that's where I'm based, and UK to be worse since it should be a more remote connection... I don't think it's a timing issue because Heart is fine in the morning, so wouldn't be a light usage time in the UK, and Caroline is fine now at 2:30pm local, which is 8:30pm UK and a time that I'd expect there to be higher numbers of connections to a UK station, not fewer.
So any ideas on what gives? Does anyone else find the US stations to be flaky, while stations in other countries are more reliable?
Flaky Internet Radio in the US?
