Linn Majik 5100 internal cables for daisy chain

Post by nico13 »

Hello

I just got a majik 5100 power amp.
I want to use 4 of the 5 channels to bi-amp a pair of Keilidh.
I know I can use external RCA cables from ch1 out to ch2 in and ch3 out to ch4 in to bi-amp my speakers, but I also was given 2 pairs of internal cables to do the job. I suppose I might avoid some electrical disturbance this way.

Anyone with a scheme or picture to illustrate how to plug them?

Thanks
Nicolas

Hi Nicolas!

Passive bi-amping is worse than passive single amping. As long as the speakers are passive, it's best to single amp and single wire to the Keilidhs.

The internal cables between the channels are roughly as good as external Linn black interconnects. Slightly different sounding, but similar performance - provided you check the internal ones for best direction and twist them the optimal number of times (I think it's 7.5 turns). If you look inside the amp, it's pretty self explanatory how to connect them.

Thanks Fredrik.
Anyway I should receive soon my active cards. I hope sound will be substantially improved as everyone seems to think...

Aha! Aktiv Keilids can be cool. Had some great parties with them!

Be prepared to find new optimal positions for the speakers. Most likely a bit further away from the rear wall.
