Over the last couple of years I've been streaming spotify through my computer into the hifi and i must admit it's been bit of a non event and so to was the Airport Express..it was just of background music ..as soon as music started I started reading or pottering about.
A couple of weeks ago I got a new phone and installed spotify. On my way to work I was surprised that for the first time I understood all the lyrics in a song I had been listening to for the last 30 years.A good sign I thought.
Then plugged it into the hifi and was blown away by the musicality of this phone playing mp3.For the first time in my life I was sitting up listening to digital music, and that's including the Classik.
I've sat up every night til 2pmgoing over my old records.Everything is better than lp12 : timing, pace clarity who's playing whom, tunefulness I can make out every word uttered without any effort .Is this possible I never got this with the Classik .I recognize musicians i didnt realise were on the album...and so on.
I heard Linns akurate aktive pa system playing Kind of Blue album the other night and apart from the scale and high volume I cant say the system gave me any more insight to the album than my phone did.
Have I got this all wrong folks!!??
My Galaxy note II sounds as good as my Lp12

Re: My Galaxy note II sounds as good as my Lp12
Clearly there must be somthing wrong with you LP 12 if a phablet sounds better:)
I rate phones
1. Galaxy s3
2. IPhone 4s
3.iPhone 4
With equally steps between. (Could be something wrong with my Apple phone 4 though, since i've opened it, and switched motherboard once.
Obviuosly samsung did somthing right with the Galaxy sIII, even on half volume it's clearly better than iPhone. Actually I've not tried full volume.
So it could be that the Note too is good aswell, looking forward to try it out. We have one lying around at work.
If if it's better than s3 it's a killer!

You are not alone :D
My Nokia N95 8gb is better than my 65k current spec retail hifi :D
Of course only in one discipline: the swiftness/timing is unbelievable - it makes piano so intensive but you have to live with the crappy sound.
I already got one of the best and fastest passive systems currently available but still having trouble with piano music.

Hi Geoff using Linn silver interconnects into kairn and aktiv klouts driving ninkas ..also using a 30 quid maplin Dac which sounds more musical than internal dac ..why do you ask?Geoff wrote:This thread is old now I know, but what cabling are you using to get from your phone into your (unnamed) HiFi?
I know that tune
if I do use phone its micro USB out to on the go cable which has a USB socket to maplin dac into kairn Geoff ..if you know what I mean ...but its mostly a dell netbook to the dacGeoff wrote:Sorry, how are you using a phone in your hifi? Are you using a cheapo 3.5 to RCA into the Kairn?
