Re: Latest records to enter your collection
I received my Can album yesterday as well, along with the new Alison Krauss/Robert Plant Raise the Roof album. I haven't listened to them yet on the LP12 but already enjoyed the Can on youtube. But then I am a prog guy at heart. I love King Crimson Lizard which took me listening to 5 times just to wrap my head around it. I didn't feel so bad when Robert Fripp, the head of King Crimson, said it takes listening to it about 24 times to understand it! So Can was no big deal to me.

Took advantage of a recent Blue Note sale. Particularly like the Scofield double LP. Saw him live at a small jazz club during that period and was glad they finally released the entire session on LP.

I finally bought this on lp, about time too, since it's one of J.J.'s best albums.

I will check the Scofield one. Andrew Hill Passing Ships is brilliant.

Just cleaned, catalogued, and sleeved these recent acquisitions. I think I may have some good ones here.

Wow! Blast from the past.
"Call out the instigators
Because there's something in the air
We've got to get together sooner or later
Because the revolution's here, and you know it's right
And you know that it's right
We have got to get it together
We have got to get it together now"
I know, it would be more like me to call out "I Advance Masked" but I still have a soft spot for Thunderclap Newman. Lots of nice albums here.

Here's another blast from the past: a collection of some of Waylon's 60's hits.

Re: Latest records to enter your collection
I love to buy vinyl from artists and listen to their full albums. I gifted one to my best friend once, and she was inspired by my gift so much that she started to write her songs. At first, I thought she was joking, but I was amazed when I listened to one of her works. I suggested that she look for a company that could offer her music promotion. She agreed and gave it a try. Now, she writes lyrics for famous artists and thinks of publishing her first song with the help of the agency with which she works.
Re: Latest records to enter your collection
That's very cool. Good luck to her. Let us know if she puts out a record!

Thanks for the recommendations Thomas. The record shop owner said the same thing about the recording quality of "All Of The Good Times Are Past And Gone." She said it might be the best recording quality she's ever heard on vinyl.

A very nice Carole King gig from 1973 with superb musicians (surprisingly funky sometimes). Great sound quality, too.

Hi Tony,Tony Tune-age wrote: ↑2022-01-19 15:35Thanks for sharing Hermann, it's much appreciated. After listening for awhile, I placed an order and it should be here by February 07th, 2022.Hermann wrote: ↑2022-01-19 11:37 Can - Live in Stuttgart 1975
Hardly a record as cleanly mixed as this one and despite the orange vinyl soundwise on the highest level. A musthave for every fan of the group and the genre. I had discovered the album on YT with a flac stream and ordered immediately. Unfortunately, the price has risen from one day to the next by a whopping 13 euros. Even with this price, it is worth every cent.
Cheers
hope has arrived in the meantime.

Oh man, what music and production! Rarely such a perfect piece of music in my collection. The first music after weeks in the hospital and it really hits home.
Mystical, dark, silent, Nordic-cool, wide like the Norwegian landscape and at the same time heartwarming (jpc).

BBM (Jack Bruce,Ginger Baker & Gary Moore): Around The Next Dream
. .
Finally on vinyl! Good pressing, good music. Even if Moore is emphasized a little too much and Baker comes from the point of view of a fan a little too short, the album is a recommendation.

The long-awaited vinyl version of the acclaimed album with fantastic interpretations of songs by Jimi Hendrix, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, and others. Recorded by some of the titans of jazz and which has rightly received great reviews everywhere.

Re: Latest records to enter your collection
Maybe a listing would help.
CAN: Live in Stuttgart 1975
Mammal Hands: Animalia
Lyle Lovett: Joshua Judges Ruth
Robert Plant/Alison Krauss: Raise the Roof
Porcupine Tree: Closure/Continuation
Mammal Hands: Floa
Rubinstein and Szeryng: Violin Sonatas, Beethoven and Brahms
Tal Wilknefeld: Love Remains
Chris Isaak: Heart Shaped World
Ginger Baker: Horses & Trees
BBM (Baker, Bruce and Moore): Around the Next Dream
Mbongwana Star: From Kinshasa
Marvin Gaye: What's Going On (50th Anniversary cut from original analog masters - hopefully)
Miles Davis: Ascenseur pour l'échafaud
A couple ideas came from this forum. The Miles I looked for months ago after seeing a Miles Davis documentary that showed him recording part of the soundtrack. It wasn't available when I looked but was just recut so I picked one up. The Ginger Baker was recommended to me when I mentioned the BBM record and I found a sealed original pressing on discogs at a reasonable price. New versions are out but I go for originals if they are available for reasonable money and in good condition. Chris Isaak is an original it took me a long time to find whereas the Lyle Lovett is a new pressing since there were so few original LPs pressed that they all go for a small fortune. The Marvin Gaye actually came about as a result of reading about the Mobile Fidelity "One Step" scandal (in which it was discovered that there was a DSD stage between the original master tape and the record cutting, much to the surprise of all those who paid $125 a piece or more for records they thought were all analog).
