Re: Playlist
I just noticed that I don't have any Elvis Costello albums, guess I'll make another trip to the vinyl shop this weekend and rectify the situation!
Cheers

Re: Playlist
Played this recently on vinyl. I just wanted to hear a random track for a quick comparison and thought 'Hey, this was a long time ago. Not sure I'm going to like it all that much.'
The scepticism originated from when I saw them in concert at the south coast of France some years back. They started by hollering 'HELLO PARIS!', which caused virtually everyone in the audience to cross their arms, and continued by sounding really tired and uninspired.
But New Gold Dream at home in my couch was a treat. I listened to the whole album and almost forgot my comparison.

Re: Playlist
It's actually the only Simple Minds album that I own, I don't care much for their later mainstream rock albums.
If you don't have this wonderful and very funky Dr. John album, I can warmly recommend it.

Agreed! My interest stops at around 1983.Tendaberry wrote: ↑2022-03-15 12:01 It's actually the only Simple Minds album that I own, I don't care much for their later mainstream rock albums.
One of my favourite tracks is I Travel from 1980.

This is such an amazing record! Make sure you have the UK Kitchenware pressing of this one. Cost me $55 to buy and import a near mint copy from the UK so I went right for that and didn't bother with the USA pressings. The album was retitled and of course likely mastered from an inferior tape copy. This is a magical pop album nice choice.
I did buy the 2 LP reissue of Jordan: The Comeback and that sounds pretty good spread over two Lps for the first time. But for Steve McQueen original all the way.

Re: Playlist
Very nice, calm and at times rhythmic composition by Kari Bremners. Interestingly, the lyrics on the inner cover show the German translation.
JPC describes: Mystical, dark, quiet, Nordic-cool, wide like the Norwegian landscape and at the same time heartwarming: the music of Kari Bremnes.
By the way very good quality of the vinyl

I found this recording(Steve McQueen) in a crawl space full of uninteresting records. Thanks for pointing me to Kitchen Records, which I have. Really good music.nmakowsk wrote: ↑2022-03-18 17:48 This is such an amazing record! Make sure you have the UK Kitchenware pressing of this one. Re: Playlist
Spotify have put together a wonderful playlist of what they’re calling “Retro Soul”. It’s made up of young musicians playing in the style of 70’s soul, but with a modern twist. Most of the bands I’ve not heard of before, but if you like bands like Black Pumas or Michael Kiwanuka you’ll absolutely love this playlist. I’m enjoying it so much, I’ve been playing it constantly for the last 2 days!

I often play it, when I cook as well as a few other playlists, like Philadelphia Soul.Spannko wrote: ↑2022-04-03 12:16 Spotify have put together a wonderful playlist of what they’re calling “Retro Soul”.
