With not much activity in the forum right now I might as well post this.
Injection molded vinyl is a cost effective and nature friendly way to produce vinyl albums and this video with Michael Fremer
goes through the basics of the process. And lets us listen to how the two methods compare. The second one is injection molded ..and to be honest I think it's inferior.
Here's the video: https://youtu.be/QLCCWpJ_HqI
Even with this type of music the differences can still be heard quite easily if you use the tune method/tune dem.

Re: Injection Molded Vinyl (Video)
That was an interesting link...thanks for posting. To my ears, the first recording sounded louder than the second recording. And perhaps with more energy as well. However, before making a definitive ranking of the two different types of vinyl, I would need to hear both albums on my system.Whatsmynaim wrote: ↑2024-08-20 22:55 With not much activity in the forum right now I might as well post this.

With the JBL 308, the first part of the recording sounds very bright and sharp, the second part very balanced and natural.

Re: Injection Molded Vinyl (Video)
Very interesting indeed. I find that the last record sounds more like a CD (for good or bad).
It’s that live feeling…………….
Re: Injection Molded Vinyl (Video)
Initially I was leaning to the 2nd simply because it felt like it had a bit more body to it which filled in the brighter, thinner sound of the first one (listening via my phone), but it deadens the music... On the PC, via headphones, I find myself preferring the first one - the 2nd is a little precise, and lifeless. (I guess Kylie doesn't need more weight on her :)
Curiously there's more surface noise with the second ("injection molded") copy - I assumed (bad) that the hydraulic, stamped LP would have been noisier...

Re: Injection Molded Vinyl (Video)
The 2nd one just lacks the expressiveness of the first. Making parts of the song seem slow and a bit lifeless.
But it could be he got his hands on a dud version. Since I've worked in the injection molding industry I know many things can go wrong.
