I am planning re-organising my rack and need to find the best shelf for Källa
I have a quadraspire rack with 6 shelves arranged as below:
6. Linn Axis
-------------
5. Kinki and Hakai DAC
-------------
4. Hakai
-------------
3. Ubiquiti and Netgear GS308
-------------
2. Hakai Power Suppy
-------------
1. Boazu
-------------
With Källa replacing Hakai, I can now give Kinki its own shelf, Källa its own shelf and will have one spare.
Does anyone have suggestions as to where Källa is likely to be happiest (assuming that the top shelf has to go to Axis for obvious reasons)?
I plan to do listening tests, but would be interested in people's experiences beforehand.
Which rack shelf?

Re: Which rack shelf?
I would probably do it like this (I also have a Quadraspire rack):
1. Axis (top)
2. Källa
3. Kinki
4. Boazu
5. Ubiquity & Netgear
6. Empty (bottom)
1. Axis (top)
2. Källa
3. Kinki
4. Boazu
5. Ubiquity & Netgear
6. Empty (bottom)

Overall I think Tendaberry is likely right. However in looking at your system thread I notice you have Quadrapire with a mix of glass and wood. I think the material will have an effect on the musical performance as well. You might want to pull the Axis and Kinki off the rack temporarily and listen to the Källa and Boazu by themselves checking as to how each performs on glass vs. the wooden shelves. You never know what you will find out.

Re: Which rack shelf?
Over time I replaced the glass shelves with MDF.
All the shelves are the same now, though I have a set of double height supports, which are currently on the bottom shelf.
I like the idea of experimenting with different shelves tho, so will give it a go.

Re: Which rack shelf?
I tried a couple of combinations, but have now settled on:
Axis
Källa
Kinki
Boazu
Amplifi+Netgear
I removed the spare shelf, and this alone seemed to bring a small improvement. This makes me wonder if moving the Axis on to a separate stand and removing another shelf will bring a further improvement.
This would leave Källa on the top shelf.

I think that idea is certainly worth trying out. It could indeed improve the sound but there is only one way to know.
