This one was one of the songs the guys at the now defunct "Audio Club" played me to show me different systems. This was in 96 and I was 22 years old and fresh out from University. I could only dream of KLOUTs and Keltik then but I got an Arcam set with AE120s. If Beck can survive his head from beeing blown off by pain until 50sec, this is when piano gets in over contrabass. :-)

I liked this song, never heard it before. That was on clip A.
When I then listened to clip B, I lost interest.

Sure, it's Love Song from Apache by Coleman Hawkins from the album Today and Now.

Cheers,

Clip A was the Tinker Board S with Volumio playing from the on board SSD. As I prepared it for play part of me hoped it would sound terrible but it didn't. In my view it's pure luck that the board sounds good despite being compromised by the on board SSD and the micro USB power supply.

In the next few days I will test it in my new setup sourcing the music from my Hakai server.

Nice!

Tinkerboard is a winner, been looking at and thinking about it for some time.

Just for clarification:
You mean Tinkerboard S with Volumio as software OR the new Volumio Primo streamer which also has Tinkerboard S inside?
Which power supply did you use?
Clip B is then HAKAI?
Thanks

Matt

Matt,

I used a Tinker Board S, flashed it with Volumio not the Primo. Clip B was the Hakai.

Have you heard it Fredrik(clips apart) and what were the features about it that piqued your interest? This is brilliant news

Prior to discovering Snakeoil OS I looked at masses of audiophile distros. One or two were thought to sound much better than the others and superior to Volumio. The best candidates were aimed almost exclusively at the RPI. There is a good chance of them working on the Tinker Board S. I'll have a look at the URL bookmarks I saved and try a couple.

Thank you, this is an interesting one!

I think the Snakeoil clip appears more precise and separated soundwise, which is a very common trap when tuning circuits or systems - or software. Because it has lost some of the interplay between the instruments.

So Debian 9 gets my vote.

Sorry if this is an obvious question, but I know very little about computers.

Was Debian9 installed on a Tinkerboard S ?
