The video is about perfect pitch. I think he has also done one about relative pitch, which can be learnt as an adult and is more relevant for undertaking tune dems.

Very interesting video about perfect pitch. Learn something new every day.

Equally interesting was a link in the same window to this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVME_l4IwII

Titled "The TRUTH Why Modern Music Is Awful" it falls in line with a comment I made a while back about the lack of musical quality of modern popular music and the musical superiority of the music of the sixties and seventies. But now it shows that there is scientific data to indicate that popular music has become simpler and more homogenous. (Before the flames hit, this is not to say that there is not good and important music being made today - as the video states as well, just that you generally will not find it on the radio or in the "Top 100" anywhere. You have to look a lot harder for it and I'm not sure there is quite as much of it either.)

Thank you Thomas. This video hits it right on the head. Sad but true. This is the way everything is going. The industry is selling us what the industry has trained us to “like”.

I do not believe that an absolute or relative hearing is relevant or particularly helpful for tune dem. Since I have no golden ears, I was looking for a practical help, a guide to critical listening, to better evaluate HiFi components. By chance I discovered Harman - How to Listen. [http://harmanhowtolisten.blogspot.com/]
The program is free and available for Windows and Mac. How and why this training software was developed can be read here: http://seanolive.blogspot.com/2010/12/h ... ow-to.html
There are also other free software, such as this one for Mac. http://technicalear.training/

Everyone can improve their skills with Harman - How To Listen and the gentlemen with the golden ears should try it and test themselves. Have fun!

lejonklou wrote: 2013-08-05 18:55 This is currently the order in which I plug the components into a power strip:

Wall --- POWER STRIP[Preamp, Source1, Source2, Power amp1, Power amp2]

This is not a new idea, I remember we discussed and tested different connection orders back in the 90's. For some reason, my conclusion back then was that the sources should be placed first in the power strip, then preamp and last power amps.

I was wrong. Preamp should go first, then sources and last power amps. I don't know if it works on all systems, but so far it has been a success.

Please try this and report back what you think!
Dear All,
I'm new here and I want to start with one question ... from the beginning of all ... WALL :
In the case of Integrated Amp (like Boazu) where to plug it on power strip?
Source, Integrated Amp or Integrated Amp, Source ...
Have somebody try ... or it is written here and I don't read it ...
Thanks in advance ...
Vlado

Source first, then integrated amp.

Actually my bet would be for Integrated amp first and then source as the Integrated contains the preamp. In my experience the preamp first is more musical. Of course, it is always best to try yourself and see how it sounds.

I think Tendaberry is right on this; source(s) first and integrated second.

But I could be wrong. Try and report!

Just to confuse things further I find that in my system the following is the best sounding and most engaging:
Wall - Gaio2 - Boazu 1.1 - streamer - LP12 Lingo and the netgear switch on a completely different circuit
So sorry but that seems like a yes to Tendaberry and ThomasOK!

Hahahaaa Yes, you just confused (or motivate) the things ... :)
Which means, lets start with work ...
- 1st live line marking ...
- 2nd power strip marking ...
- 3rd power cord marking ...
Photos will follow ... :)

Here is report as Mr. Lejonklou suggest:
First Step ... Remove all previous power strips and power cords and installed as suggested here ...
From the wall:
Power strip: 1.4 m/long, 3G1.5mm2, 5way, welded, tape contacts inside, no lights of any kind, no switch;
Power cords: 1.0 - 1.8 - 2.0 m/long, 3G0.75mm2, different producers, but mainly as find here, the best.
On both ... power strips and power cord I marked Live Line ...
On the power strip at this moment (while break in wires and ...) first is plug integrated amps (pre-amp is in) and than sources (this will be further research in second step).
Result: Everything come on it place in music = much more music, from point of view of what Bach or ... want to say ... In addition to this WAF (see me working something in living room) when put some music on tuner she start to sing and dance ... and ask me what I have done ... :)
In Second Step plan is to research what is better Sources or Integrated Amps First to be plug on power strip ... and
In Third Step plan is to research which power strip is better; in local electrical shops find 3 different producers of power strip with characteristics as mentioned up. When I find which power strip sound the best than I go beck to second step ... or vice-versa, first third step and than second step ... :), please suggest ...

Very good. You've made musical progress and made your wife dance - not bad for a days work. I don't think it really matters in which order you do steps 2 and 3. You should hear the musical differences either way.
