Kikkin into Mdsm/3

Hello,

I am planning to buy a Kikkin to bypass the preamp in my Majik Dsm/3.

Before that, i need to know if i could use all the analogue inputs of the DSM in this configuration. I have not read clear information about this.
There is an old thread where it is mentioned that the phono stage of the Majik DSM would work but there is nothing about the other inputs.

If your Majik Dsm/3 has a RCA Pre-out (fixed) I do not see why it should not work.

On a side note, Kikkin is reverse phase like the old Kairn - in case you didn't know or had forgotten.

True. But when swapping red and black connectors on the back of the speakers, please do compare which absolute phase sounds best. Because even if there ought to be a right and wrong on this issue, I find that systems with a Kikkin usually don’t benefit from the absolute phase being corrected. I don’t know why this is the case.

No, problem! Set preout to fixed and connect to whatever preamp you want. You can use MDSM as a streamer/phono stage and all inputs (HDMI/digital/analog). I've done this in the past with ADSM into Klimax Kontrol, same thing really.

But in the case of MDSM with external preamp, it seems that you must use an external poweramp as well.

Yes, it will work just fine. I'm not going into another preamp so I have the pre-amp outputs adjustable but this feeds active speakers and all inputs work through the system. As stefan mentions you would want to set the pre-out to fixed which will also disable the internal volume control and keep the analog inputs analog through the MDS.
