Is there a summer party you need it for?

As soon as the first units are assembled and I’ve tested them, it will be released and start shipping. But each step of the assembly needs to be carefully evaluated, it’s the only way to make sure they’re all built correctly. I prefer proceeding a bit too slow to too fast in this stage where many parts and people are involved.

O don't rush, better a slow good unit than a rushed bad one, don't worry ;)

Just very much looking forward to it, then my natural impatientness takes over hehe

As of this week I'm back in the cavern of creations and I love it!

I thought I'd update you on the production of Superkikkin.

I visited the assembling company this week, inspected the circuit boards (beautiful!) and concluded that all parts are present and everything ready for assembly. Sadly the guy most experienced with the assembly of my products fell and broke his wrist this summer and is now recovering after surgery. I would prefer if he led the work, as he knows all the tricks and tend to get every detail perfect. So we're going to wait a bit to see if he's ready to return. If not, someone else will need to take over and I'll have to spend some time there instructing him or her.

Thank you for your patience!

Presumably to switch between inputs 1 and 2.

I thought switching goes by remote?
Edit: OK, I have seen on Hexagon HP it is a manual switch.

The two inputs on Superkikkin are selected with the switch. The reason for this is that it keeps the circuit optimised in terms of power consumption, which makes it sound better than if remote controlled switches and associated circuitry had been used. Minimising power consumption is key to the musical performance of my products with a conventional mains transformer.

I listened to a lot of switches and chose the best sounding one. I believe it’s also the most long lasting and stable in performance of all the switches tested. It happened to be the most expensive and interestingly the least expensive switch was very close in terms of musicality. But it was built like crap and therefore unusable.

The switch is easily flipped if you put your hand against the side of Superkikkin. I think a common use for the second channel will be a turntable, in which case you need to get up and put the needle in the groove. Then it’s no effort to also flip the switch.

I repeatedly received two requests from owners of the original Kikkin:
Can you please add a second input?
Can you make it sound even better than version 2.2?

When people kept writing that ten years later, I thought OK, let’s try it.

Can’t wait to hear what you think of it!

Exciting!

I'm sure it will sound fab.

Does it still outperform the Giella Pi?

Just remote volume, and power on/standby, or is it always on? (no power switch?)

Just volume up and down, mute and half mute (-10 dB), like the original Kikkin. My remote is supplied.

I think it's very cool and an interesting choice to consider for those looking to use only 1 or two inputs. Hope it sticks around in your line-up for a while.

Thanks!

It will stick around for exactly 100 units. Some components are obsolete, others unobtainium. So beyond number 100, it would require a redesign.

Looking good, Fredrik! It is nice to see photos of how it looks and the insides. It will be even better to see a back panel that says 115V-60Hz! ;-)

The borrowed Kikkin I used since I replaced my Linn ADSM with the Kalla :)

How so? Fredrik is saying it’s not as good as the Monos isn’t he?
