LEJONKLOU MUGS - Updated with 2nd charity donations

Post by sunbeamgls »

Good news!

Fredrik has approved the use of the Lejonklou logo to be used for a limited edition run of mugs. I've discussed this with Fredrik and we've agreed that the mugs will be sold through this forum to raise money for charity.

Approximate costs at the moment are £12 including UK mainland postage and £15 including EU postage with other locations TBA.

Of that, £5 will be donated to a charity, chosen by Lejonklou forum members. So here is your chance to vote in the poll for which charity will benefit from this initiative. They're all child focused and international in nature, so they're not specific to any particular country.

Please vote in the poll below and we'll go with the most popular option - I'll leave it open for August and I expect to be able to provide more definite information on pricing and some "mug shots" ready to start shipping in September. Initial artwork mock-ups shown below. The mugs will be in the "For Sale" part of the forum when they're ready in early September.

Thanks

We hope the forum community will be very supportive of this initiative!

I really like that and appreaciate your efforts - call me in for at least one mug.
Hope you dont hate me for the next question: are you also thinking about a black one with white or silver letters.

We all know black SOUNDS better - but does it taste better?

Count me in too - even in white!

May I suggest proportional representation so that everyone’s vote counts?

Its an interesting idea Spannko. But what about the other 1000s of charities that aren't on the options list? Can't cover every eventuality.

Let's see what the sales numbers are like. If there are enough sales that means spreading the funds around make it sensible then I'll do that. If it means one charity gets £2.50 or similar then I don't see that as worthwhile.

Thanks for the suggestion.

The other thousands of charities???

OTOH, a charity receiving £2.50, rather than nothing, would be very grateful. And so too would be the person who voted for the charity.

I have said it will be given consideration. At the end of August when the poll closes I will advise on how the charity money will be distributed. You will be free to support or not, based on that information.

Hi All

Thanks for the enthusiastic responses.

The sample mug has arrived and its looking good.

When the poll closes I'll be putting up a post in the "for sale" section of the forum and taking orders through direct messaging and keeping track that way. I'll update here when the "for sale" post is live. On a periodic basis I will update this thread with sales numbers and charity receipts.

Bulk orders will be priced individually for shipping costs as they won't cost multiples of the individual shipping cost.

Meanwhile...

FYI, I did investigate black mugs with white or silver writing but the minimum numbers and cost per mug made it rather unattractive.

Cool idea and I like the look of the mug. I'm just waiting for the TBA shipping charge to the US to figure out how many I might want.

Orders for the first batch of mugs are now being taken. Please see the FOR SALE thread:

https://www.lejonklou.com/forum/viewtop ... 762#p49762

Note, if you wish to know which charity (or charities) for which funds are being raised before you place your order, please wait for the poll to complete at the end of August 2020 before placing an order.

Let's raise some funds!

In the spirit of this I am not planning to try to make any money on these. I think they should be about $20 plus shipping but I have to make sure I don't get charged any duty or brokerage fee before I know the final cost.
