CAUTION regarding Trim on Tundra 2.5 and Tundra Mono 2.x

Post by lejonklou »

I need to inform all owners of Tundra 2.5 and Tundra Mono 2.x about the necessity for CAUTION regarding the Status and Trim ports on the rear:

If excessive force is used towards the Status and Trim ports on the rear of these power amplifiers, there is a risk of the threads holding the connectors to the rear panel is stripped and the connectors become loose.

For instance, if one inserts the supplied cable to the Status port and then shoves the amplifier into a shelf where there is an object or a wall right behind the Status port, there is a risk that the connector of the cable is forced into the case and the Status port connector breaks and falls into the case. This can cause the soldered connection of the port to short against the inside of the case, which can potentially cause damage to the amplifier.

Although the scenario is unlikely to happen, the risk needs to be mentioned. To prevent any electronic damage from occurring from a connector falling into the case, all Tundra 2.5’s and Tundra Mono's with serial number 096 and above will have insulated connectors. This prevents all risk of electronic damage, even if the connectors are broken and pushed into the case.

The insulation of the connectors can be retroactively fitted to any Tundra 2.5 or Tundra Mono 2.x if the owner so wishes. The performance of the amplifier is not affected.
