Lejonklou ... in Scotland? ;)

Post by bugi666 »

Just wondering if there are any Lejonklou users in Scotland :) I am keep thinking about trying Lejonklou Tundra, or Monos to compare them to my KCTD... I don't really want to bother the dealers to send one of these amps to me just so I can try it out...

I thought I'll try to find some Lejonklou users in Scotland and maybe arrange a wee listening session ;)

Hi Bugi,

I´d advise you to have a little more patience until the Tarandus upgrades have been rolled out for Tundra stereo and mono - Monos will be first, scheduled for November....

Hi bugi!

Marco has a point, I'm just about to fly home and continue the tests on Tarandus for Tundra Mono. It's very exciting!

If you organise a wee listening session I'd be happy to assist with the equipment, through a retailer or directly. Won't be a problem.

@ Albadrex: PM on the way ;)

@ Fredrik: thank you kindly, that's a very generous offer! My house is not huge, so won't be able to accomodate too many folks, but ... As I've been doing it few times already, I am sure we can arrange something! Let me contact few folks and see what can come out of it! :D

I'm in Glasgow as well and, as Marco knows, always feel that we miss out in terms of opportunities to audition any Lejonklou equipment.

Count me in ...

I know of an engineering and electronics works just on the outskirts of Glasgow. I know they have a couple of hifi demo rooms too.
They might let you borrow theirs if you ask nicely.....

Perhaps Mr. ´WIJI´ could be interested too? ;-)
He has a nice stack of Solos/D and a set of ´Killer Keltiks´ that are being powered by them -
an interesting demo would that be - though it would require 8 Monos to do that job.

But I´d better not speak before for my turn, I´m sure he´ll chime in when being intrigued by the idea...

Ideally my 350s, as my goal is to select an amplifier for my system ;)
Just wondering how many folks my house can accomodate for some listening/comparison session :P

Do you need to consider the 8db difference between Linn & Lejonklou amps when feeding the 350s, if they have aktiv servo bass?

Yes if you drive them aktively, not if the bass is derived from the speaker cable.

I thought 350s have an onboard bass amp, even passive 350s... Thought that would mean +8db compared with Tundra amps

Inbuilt bass amp correct.
But that is not an issue on passive 350s (and Komri), please read again what anthony wrote.

Interestingly, the few times I've tried this, I've always found that taking the bass from the speaker cable is more musical.

Running a line level signal to the bass amps sounds more impressive, but less homogenic and musically engaging.

I had already read it a couple of times - it wasn't clear to me that the onboard bass amp could be bypassed... No big deal - just trying to share info so that bugi & co have best comparison set up between Linn & Lejonklou amps feeding the 350s, that's all. Interested in the outcome...

Bypassed? They are not bypassed. They are fed with a signal either from the loudspeaker input OR by a separate interconnect.

If fed from the loudspeaker input, which I also happen to find musically best, there is no level problem.

I guess we need to explain this a bit more.

Tundra - loudspeaker cable - speaker terminal - Xover - treble/mid speaker elements
AND
from the speaker terminal, the signal is sent ALSO to the inbuilt bass amp
