My local linn retailer is happy to build me a NAS. Normally they put in an integral cd drive for automatic ripping - like my zone ripper.

Do i just give them a list of the recommended components and software with the install instructions.

Sounds like a great dealer. Beware though that the motherboard has ben discontinued, I bought mine in used condition on ebay.

If you don't want to build one, two other options I've heard identified as more musical than a standard NAS are the Naim Unitiserv and the one mentioned here:
