I have a 5.1 setup and would like to get some Sagatuns to do the pre amp duties. I'm running a an Oppo 105 as source, currently going straight into the power amps using it's internal volume.
Unfortunately I won't be able to afford all at once. I could get a Sagatun stereo to start me off, with hopes of getting more in the future. I'd put it on the front L/R in unity gain so the volume would still be in the Oppo. My question is would I get much benefit from the Sagatun in unity gain only?
Could someone with a Sagatun please do a little experiment for me. If you have a DS or Oppo player, compare straight to the power amp with internal volume, vs through the Sagatun in unity gain to see if there's much benefit. And then in the normal setup using the Sagatun volume, to see how much of a step up that is.
Thanks.
Sagatun in unity gain

Hi fatjulio!
I don't have any digital source with an internal volume right now, so I can't help you with this test. But I hope that someone else can!
I am interested as well in what the effect will be of using Sagatun as a buffer only.
There are two ways to connect it:
1. DS or Oppo into input 4. Sagatun set to Unity Gain.
2. DS or Oppo into the Single Source input. Sagatun volume set to 80.
Anyone?
