Kikkin with long interconnects?

Post by Rob Dodds »

Can anyone comment on Kikkin driving long cables to power amps? I'm thinking of replacing Kairn driving 280/Spark, but due to domestic constraints amps must be between my Kabers and so I have approx 5m Linn Black interconnects. Will the Kikkin manage this? I'm new to the forum but thanks in advance.

Hi Rob and welcome here!

5m of interconnect is absolutely no problem for Kikkin to drive.

Is the Kikkin going to give an improvement on the Kairn. It's late spec, due to having to be totally rebuilt by Linn when the power supply packed in - new circuit board, ps, case etc.

I know at least one person on the forum compared to Kairn. See Lego's comments, Posted: 2009-08-05 00:31

Don't know how new/old the Kairn was though.

Definitely substantially better than the Kairn. A Majik Kontrol easily outperforms Kairn and the Exotik and Akurate Kontrol outperform the Majik Kontrol. The Kikkin 2.2 is an improvement over the Akurate Kontrol and is very close to the AK/D so it is really a few steps better than a Kairn regardless of the Kairn power supply.

I upgraded from Kairn (late spec, fine tuned by dealer) to Kikkin 1.0. Massive improvement in every possible way. (Now listening to Kikkin 2.2 - even better. :-) )
