That’s a very, very kind first appearance on this forum RockBottom.
Your experiences with Lejonklou are very much alike mine!
Your write-up makes me reconsider to upgrade my Boazu 1.3 to 1.5 as well -which is currently making music in my main system- since my Sagatun 1.7 is currently in Uppsala to get an upgrade to 1.8. (…….)

Thank you very much for your kind words Christian and welcome to the forum.
It continues to remain very special and precious to me when music lovers like yourself get in touch with Lejonklou electronics and (re)discover the engagement and beauty of music.
Naturally full credit to Fredrik for making this possible :-)

Re: Boazu 2
Dear Willen, dear Marco,
thank you for your kind words.
Yes Marco, it is a "rediscover of the engagement and beauty of music."
The Lejonklou electronics transports me back 40 years ago to the good old days of listening to music on my Lenco L75, Pioneer Tube receiver and small 2-Way speakers.
And to my first "real" system consisting of a Naim CD3 and a Nait 3 listening for hours to end to my beloved music.
The more the systems elaborate the "High Fidelity" increases but the musical enjoyment decreases.
Yes, there have been great "moments" of listening to Linn Klimax and Naim 555 setups, but only to certain recordings...
And yes, i forgot the most important part of my post, to thank Fredrik Lejonklou for his work and the music.
CB
PS I am also waiting for a time slot for the 1.8 upgrade of my Sagatun monos.

Re: Boazu 2
Very nice writeup, RockBottom, and welcome to the forum. Your comments are spot on.
"My conclusion: price does not equal quality...
With increasing prices, the hifi sound gets a little bit better, but most of the time with most set ups the tunefulness and the music experience decreases.
The best, most musical Systems let you dive into the music, into any music."
Having been in the industry 48 years, and longer than that as a hobby, that has been my experience as well. Most, if not all, of the really expensive systems I have heard are lacking in musical enjoyment and engagement. They seem to all be about a sound with lots of detail but no finesse. A recent audition of a $1.2 million system with a digital front end over $300,000 just reconfirmed it. There was nothing in it that captured my attention musically.
You have a nice system. I have heard the DeVore O96 sounding quite good and one of my dealers told me he had never heard DeVores sounding as good as when driven by Lejonklou. I'm glad you found Lejonklou as Fredrik's equipment stands out to me as an oasis in a desert of expensive, yet forgettable Hi-Fi gear, including some from companies I trusted for musical quality in the past. Enjoy!

Yes, welcome to the forum RockBottom!
Seems like your music system has reached the polar opposite of your forum member name?
Thank you SO MUCH for all your kind words! I will keep on trying to earn them.

Hello all,
and thank you ThomasOk for your answer, i appreciate your profound commends and tips for years.
My wife is the ultimate arbiter. She claims that my Lejonklou setup sounds "quite good", her highest possible appraisal.
When we listened to the 1 Mio systems at my former workplace (no, i did not sell hifi there), she commented "meh".
PS The member name refers to the great Robert Wyatt🥹

Re: Boazu 2
Fredrik upgraded my Boazu 1.1 to 1.3 and then 1.5 (he was very quick - Boazu spent less than 3 days in Uppsala).lejonklou wrote: ↑2024-11-05 22:02After a lot of thinking and testing, I have decided to release the version 1.5 upgrade of the original Boazu.lejonklou wrote: ↑2024-10-04 13:09 Thank you!
Here is Boazu 1.3 versus the new version 1.5:

https://lejonklou.com/IMG_8455.mov
The upgrade consists of a new firmware, a new chassis ground and the change of some fasteners.
The upgrade from the previous version 1.3 to the new version 1.5 costs SEK 2500, EUR 250 or USD 250, including VAT but excluding shipping costs.
It can be done at Lejonklou headquarters in Uppsala, Sweden and at Nokturne Audio in Michigan, USA.
EDIT: Clarified that the price of this upgrade is from 1.3 to 1.5.
I've been listening to it now for a couple of days. Initially I thought that this was quite a nice upgrade and good value for money.
Having listened to more vinyl and streaming, I now think that this is a great upgrade and extremely good value for money. It sounds more like a source upgrade. I find it hard to imagine how I could get a similar improvement without spending ten times the amount.
Two examples illustrate the difference I hear. I played Leonard Cohen's Ten New Songs on Källa and Billie Eilish's Hit Me Hard And Soft on vinyl.
I've been playing these two quite a lot in recent months so my memory of them is quite fresh. The upgraded Boazu brings more emotion to the experience by sounding more life-like and revealing more detail. The upgrades appear to let more of the musical information through.
Leonard Cohen and Sharon Robinson worked closely on Ten New Songs, but in geographic isolation from each other, Robinson sending her recordings to Cohen and the pair collaborating on the production of the combined recordings. However on the upgraded Boazu they sound as if they are in the same room. I imagine them singing together into the same microphone.
It's taken me a few repeat listens to appreciate Eilish's album, and my initial impression was that it was a rather murky production at times. However with the upgrade it is now clear that is due in part because there can be a lot going on! The recording at times includes background layers of instrumentation and vocals that I can now hear clearly. While the overall tone of the album is a bit sombre and muted, on further listen I get the impression that they had fun hiding different elements in the backgound.
I don't know which upgrade has the most impact, but if you have 1.1 then you should seriously consider upgrading to 1.5.
Pete
Re: Boazu 2
Nice reports about an extraordinary integrated amplifier. Many thanks for sharing.
Thanks to Marco at Hexagon Audio for your excellent service. My SMs are on their way to Uppsala for the upgrade, and Marco was kind enough to lend me the Superkikkin (!) for the time being. There will be a comprehensive comparison.
I'm quoting myself, because the statement is no longer correct. The Boazu2 has been playing in my small system for a few days now and is going crazy. It was impossible to stick with the decision not to buy it. And with an Ampliy Alien and Linn DS, the Boazu2 plays like it's in 7th heaven.Hermann wrote: ↑2024-12-11 13:57 Thank you guys. It was not easy for me to return the Boazu 2, but my priority is the main system, specifically an upgrade of the Sagatun Monos.
On the other hand, I am very happy with the previous version of the Boazu in my second system and very aware of the advantages of the new one.

Re: Boazu 2
I still owe some examples of Boazu 2 in my little system. Examples of Boazu 2 integrated into the larger system can be found further up in this thread. So comparisons are possible...
The small system has now been optimized, both digitally and on the power side. Since then, the Boazu 2 has performed excellently and transformed the Keilidh several notches higher.
