Re: EVENTS
Thank you to everyone who came to Tonläget tonight! I think we were 19 or 20 people? Pretty crowded in the small listening rooms. After my initial presentation of what makes this company unique in the big world of HiFi, we split into smaller groups and made comparisons, with the participants changing room every once in a while.
I think the Boazu 1.1 versus 2.0 differences became clearer and clearer the more comparisons we made. As Anders (owner of Tonläget) said: ”The more messy the music is, the clearer it becomes that Boazu 2 makes better sense of it all.”
I asked for some recordings be made with anyone’s phone and just now received two one minute clips that I will have a listen to tomorrow. Hope to have something to share with those of you that weren’t there!

OK, so here they are; Boazu 1.1 versus Boazu 2.
And I dare you, after listening to these two clips, regardless of how close you think they are in performance, try this:
Play the same song on your favourite streaming service, Quboz, Apple, Tidal or Spotify, and tell me whether it swings better than on these two clips. Because this is Källa handling the stream and it’s something else. Source first.

The song is Silly Games by Janet Kay.
As always, I’m grateful for your comments.

Fun experiment!
iPhone 13Pro streaming Spotify is good, but by far the worst out of the 3. Both Boazus sound stellar but the 2 is special! This is the first time I've heard a clip out play the same song played locally. That's really something!!!
What are your thoughts on the Jore vs. the T1?

Ah, I hadn’t seen that. I’m playing the second one.matthias wrote: ↑2025-03-15 12:05There are two on Spotify:

Jore is a great speaker! In some aspects it reminds me of T1, but Jore goes deeper and can play louder.markiteight wrote: ↑2025-03-15 03:34 Fun experiment!

Re: EVENTS
Firstly, what a fantastic system that is! Källa, Boazu and Jore >>> Game, set and match! Both you and Tonläget should be very proud of what you’ve achieved. Well done!lejonklou wrote: ↑2025-03-15 02:28 OK, so here they are; Boazu 1.1 versus Boazu 2.

Re: your challenge. Does this also apply to those with Källa at home?
Re: EVENTS
Thank you Spannko!
I was very pleased with the system and wish that I could have spent more time with it.
Regarding sending the music from iPad to Källa, amp and speakers compared to sending it to headphones, I have always felt that it’s a lot better through the system. A later discovery was that the frequent in-room clips I record of my system in order to compare something sound better than listening to the song directly from the streaming service.
Like this:
• I play an unfamiliar track on the current lab system (Källa, Boazu 2, Klångedang T1).
• I record the first 45 seconds with my phone.
• I make a small change in the system (last time I compared 8 new connectors).
• I play the track again and make a second recording of the first 45 seconds.
• I listen some more to the two alternatives and start forming an opinion of the small change I made.
• At home in the evening, I listen to the two clips using my phone and headphones and realise that one of the alternatives has problems in the musical fundamentals. Like the timing in the bass is a little bit off. Clips are so useful for discovering such differences.
• Having gone back and forth several times between the clips, I start feeling this is a great song, I want to hear it to the end!
• I open the streaming app and play the song in the headphones. And I feel Naah, it wasn’t that great after all.
• Back in the lab the next day, I play the song on the system again. And it’s great!

Re: EVENTS
Boazu 2 grooves along nicely and a noticeable improvement.
Spotify app on the phone was much worse as suggested.

Re: EVENTS
I must admit, this isn’t something I’ve noticed Fredrik, but it’s a pretty cool observation! So Källa must be reconstructing the packets of data to such a degree that the integrity of the data can withstand being converted to 256k AAC (by the Camera app) and still be nearer to the original master than the Spotify stream being fed directly to headphones by an iPhone or iPad?
Re: EVENTS
I don’t have a full explanation, but the order in which the conversions happen is important.
If Källa makes the first conversion to analogue, the quality can be heard even after later conversions (back to digital and then back again to analogue) and even when those later conversions are pretty bad.
If a bad conversion to analogue is where it starts, it stays bad no matter what you do. The best you can do is to accurately preserve that low quality.
For a while I thought that the coloration made by loudspeakers playing in a room might have some kind of charming effect, making me like those clips more than the original uncoloured track. But that didn’t appear to be the case, because if the system I’m recording isn’t sounding great, the clips are no fun and the original track much more rewarding to listen to.

Re: EVENTS
I've been surprised a few times, comparing to Spotify on the iPad Mini, that in-room clips can sound better... I thought it might be the small size (& quality?) of the built-in speakers - hadn't considered that it might be room reaction, or 'The Källa Effect' :)lejonklou wrote: ↑2025-03-16 16:44 Regarding sending the music from iPad to Källa, amp and speakers compared to sending it to headphones, I have always felt that it’s a lot better through the system. Re: EVENTS
Thanks for a great event! Nice to see so much people at Tonläget. System sounding great! I think the most accurate (in summary) thing said about the Boazu comparison was that part from Anders at Tonläget ”The more messy the music is, the clearer it becomes that Boazu 2 makes better sense of it all.”
I felt the rhythm of the songs in particular was better rendered and made more sense, and in general how "ambient noise" transformed into accurate notes with the Boazu 2. The Boazu 1.1 still had a charm of its own though imo, something peaceful and 'feeling nice' over it. Lovely amps these Boazus! It was so easy to enjoy music with this system!
No comparisons made with Källa but my best guess after this is that most streamers probably sound broken in comparison.

the players of instruments shall be there..
Re: EVENTS
While at Tonläget, were any thoughts formed about Harmonihyllan versions in preparing the Boazu comparison? Boazu 2 sounds really good in the comparison clips.

Discussions about the Harmonihyllan products have been moved to the Harmonihyllan topic...again.
