Thank you for sharing that, Florian!

Just a word of caution: Make sure the turntable arm ground is connected to the ground screw of Slipsik. Some Step-Up Transformers have a ground screw to their metal case, but it's not enough connecting the arm ground only to that point, even if there is zero hum in the speakers.

The reason is that if an electric discharge from your body hits one of the cartridge tags, it can be amplified by the SUT and knock out the input circuit of Slipsik. Happened twice to a customer until he figured out that the arm ground wasn't going to Slipsik, but only to his SUT, which wasn't grounded anywhere else. So the arm was in fact not grounded and couldn't pick up the discharge.

Thanks Fredrik for the tip.

I use two ground wires. The one that is integrated on the phono cable, from the turntable to the SUT. And the second from the SUT to the Slipsik 8. I hope that everything should be grounded in the correct way.

Best

Excellent Florian!

That’s the correct way to connect it.

I just purchased a Linn LP-12, pretty basic specs (still tons of money for me!)- Krane tone arm, Adikt, did add a Lingo and a trampolin though. My original idea was to play it with my Naim Nait 50 as I thought it would be a great match, and it definitely is now that i've tried it. However, I decided it looked so nice next to my main system- a Sugden A21 SE Signature into Neat Motive SX2. I usually have a Rega P6 with a DV 20X2 LOMC into a DV P75 mk IV running into that amp. Anyways, I think I'll put the Rega with the Naim and the Linn to the Sugden, but then need a good MM phono pre, which led me to the Slipsik. I may even switch to MM on the Rega to use the Naims pre- thinking maybe the WTL TLC. That way anytime I feel the need to switch the Linn with the Rega they both can run into either system without moving around another pre.

Anyways, reading about the Slipsik it seems to be just what I need and I'd honestly love to just stick to the Adikt for a while. Anyone have any thoughts on switching my Linn into the Sugden system with the Slipsik? The only other thought I had was to put the LOMC on the Linn, but I'm really liking this adikt and just not having to fuss with MC, having replacement styluses etc.

Thanks for making cool and exciting products like this!

Here is a report on what I tried with the Slipsik 8. I've been more busy with the topic of Step-Up Transformers in the last few months. Since I have always read very positive comments about Cinemag, it has now become a Quadratic Audio MC-1. The interaction with a Denon DL-103 with MC-1 SUT and the Slipsik 8 is simply fantastic for my ears. I think I've never liked my Hi-Fi chain with vinyl so much. The DL-103 is currently available new in Germany for €250. I didn't expect anything special, really a recommendation if you like this sound signature.

Cheers

I'm afraid I have to disappoint you. It's a Stst Motus II DQ, mass subchassis turntable with a 10" Stst Vertex tonearm. It's made in Kempten, Germany near the Alps and Austria. Stefan Strohmetz runs a one-man workshop and as far as I know he makes about 40 turntables a year.

No disappointment here! It's a nice looking turntable and I'm sure it plays vinyl very well...

I've been very much enjoying my LP-12 (lingo 4, ekos se/1, adikt) with the Slipsik 8. Unfortunately, in my living room, the LP-12 has never quite worked well- too much foot fall. I put it on a rack, which solved the foot fall problem, but doesn't work aesthetically, and my partner wants a tv in that room that ends up being too high. My house is old and has wainscoting half way up the wall making that kind of thing challenging. So, I put the LP-12 back in the Naim Nait 50 office set up.

Tried out my new Opera Consonance Wax Engine turntable with a Well Tempered Labs TLC cartridge (Based on a Nagaoka MP 150. Into the Slipsik 8 in this system. I gotta say it sounds really, really good. It is just about as musical as the LP-12. Surely some is lost on not having as fancy as a power supply as the Linn, but I was tapping my toes, and following the tune very nicely. Sometimes, household harmony can add a little to the enjoyment too! This set up also has a Kalla, so it's really nice, and I think the LP-12 matches the Naim Nait 50 nicely, so a fun experiment all around!

I just wanted to share a little non LP-12 experience with the Slipsik 8.

Hi JP,
Thanks for sharing your other TT / Slipsik experience. The experience includes als another cartridge, a Nagaoka. My experience with Nagaoka (MP300/500) and Slipsik (7.2) is that the two goes very well together. In my situation until now a modificated Idler Wheel Lenco 76S. Enjoy!
