Thank you all for the positive response!
About the name: After Kikkin and Trikkin (never released, but a good exercise in signal switching), the best-that-I-possibly-can preamp project Sagatun started in 2012. All circuit boards have had Sagatun printed on them (as will the production boards). The name refers to a mountain conservation area near the river Slipsik in the north of Sweden.
Along the way, project Sagatun was more and more often referred to as Saga. So that will be the name of the preamp!

I will keep that in mind for next time, Marco!mrco99 wrote:Are those few enthousiast already granted to give away some first impressions?
Or all still under firm embargo?? ;-)
Wish I was one of them.
They are of course free to write anything they think, whenever they choose. Erik just received it and I know he's got a great sounding latest spec KK in his system. So it will be very interesting to read his impressions of Saga.

well, personally i much prefer sagatun if i may be so bold. it sounds much more befitting to the 'lejonklou' name than saga, which is just an english word meaning a bit of a pain in the arse to many people ! 'Oh it's become a real saga now' etc etc.
anyway i can't wait to hear it, glad all your hard work is coming to fruition. good luck with saga and i hope it doesn't become one ! :) ;)
All the best,
daniel.

You have no idea, Daniel, what a saga the front button assembly was. Not to mention the endless tuning of the output circuit! The development of this amp nearly killed me. Does that make the name more fitting?
Seriously, thanks for the feedback! The printing on the case isn't done yet and inside it will always say Sagatun.

Ah, hahaha, I did wonder! Can't wait to hear it! Same feet as tundra? I must admit I put three Russ Andrews oak cones under mine, I preferred them.lejonklou wrote:You have no idea, Daniel, what a saga the front button assembly was. Fredrik,
why not Sagatun?

Must say I also like Sagatun.
It has a more special ring to it than Saga, which sounds a bit more ordinary.
SAGA for story and TUN refers to melody.
A great name for a device that should do nothing but pass on the musical stories from source to playback.
To me it simply sticks more to the mind than only Saga.
All just imho.
;-)

Having watched The Bridge, it reminds me of the Swedish detective, which is a good thing :) Her character is called 'Saga' too.macrotech2 wrote:In the UK, Saga is also a company providing a range of insurance and holiday services for the over 50s. I could legitimately use them, but that's another story :-)
Fredrik, is it pronounced Sa-ger or Sar-ger or something else?

As no laser marking, overlay printing, owners manual design or webpage has yet been made, the name can still be changed. I like them both.

I have to say that I agree with the majority - Sagatun is more distinctive and ties in with both tune and Tundra. This despite the fact that most of my countrymen can't pronounce Lejonklou, even after I explain it, so they are likely to have a fun time with Sagatun as well. For that matter I'd like to know if the last syllable is pronounced as tune or ton (like in tundra).
Whatever the name, I am definitely looking forward to it.

Could you please be so kind and share your impressions with the rest of us? Did you compare the Saga with something, and if so, what's your conclusion?
Please come on, Daniel and Erik and tell us your impressions about SAGATUN.
We do not want to wait any longer........
