Re: Tim .......ing

Highest precision of voltage means nothing without correct timing. What about the voltage to the timers? Ron The Mon Not that critical, as compared to the reference voltage of the DAC, I should say. But others may have better knowledge than I do from my applied physics courses at the university, an...

Re: Culprit - The phono stage?

Very sorry to discover this thread, and read about your troubles. My first idea was flaws in the setup, and if it wasn't for the distance, I'd have suggested to bring the LP12 back to the dealer, and leave it there until the dealer has sorted out and fixed all issues, AND demostrated this to you in ...

Re: Linn Klimax DSM Organik, impressions

I also noticed that early in the video they mentioned that they had developed a "carefully designed clock distribution network" for the Organik DAC That's a very interesting point, also from a different angle: When Linn decided to implement their proprietary DAC by discrete flip-flops, they obvious...

Re: Linn Akurate Radikal Question

Before you commit buying an Akurate Radikal compare it to the Klimax version. I did so. Afterwards I had empty pockets, but a bigger grin on my face. :-)

Re: Linn Klimax DSM Organik, impressions

It is pretty clear that Linn improved BOTH the streaming board (which is btw complete in the digital domain) AND the DAC in the NGKDSM. Let's not forget the clock. Without proper timing each and every DAC will produce a poor analog signal. It does not help to get the voltage correct, if the timing ...

Re: QNAP NAS MALWARE ATTACK

Thx for the heads-up, first of all! I don't want to sound rude, but I disagree with the statement, that "this puts QNAP systems into question". I'm not affiliated with QNAP in any way, and don't even use any of their products. But let's stay fair: Shit happens! 35 yrs in the IT/software business hav...

Re: Silver analogue interconnect

I'm still on the 1st generation of unbalanced Silver Interconnects (with the non-slitted plugs) to connect my Chakra to the Exaktbox. Hopefully Thomas finds they sound OK ;-) I'm not sure, whether there are different versions of the balanced Silvers? The ones I've got (between Uphorik and KRDSM) hav...

Re: New Karousel Vs TigerPawTranquillity

I can only second Tendaberry, after a direct comparison between elsewise identical Akurate LP 12s at my dealer. Karousel is a 'must have' upgrade. This was not that clear to me from the clips I heard. But the same was true for ARadikal vs KRadikal (which is a more subtle difference than the two bear...

Re: Karousel

Denmark is a terrible place to live if you need a car and like the sound of Linn. Haha, I thought so when I worked on a project in Copenhagen. But at least I could drive there by car from my home, taking the ferry link from Fehmarn. (Actually, cars are cheaper in Denmark than in Germany, but the ta...

Re: Karousel

In summary, I think the only way to properly evaluate a Karousel is with the listening system. Source, amplification, speakers. That’s just my opinion. Same here! I'd appreciate to compare some Songcorder recordings (24/192 off a DSM Songcast) of Circus vs Karousel. This cancels a lot of unknowns (...

Imany - Live at the Casino de Paris (Didn't know her, until heard her on Radio Paradise. Must have!)
Led Zeppelin - Celebration Day (With Jason Bonham drumming in lieu of his dad. When LZ pay tribute to Ahmet Ertegün, us vinyl lovers can't turn a deaf ear, can we?)

Happy listening!

Hi Bri,

just came across this thread, wondering if you made your LP12 sing? With the free Karousel promotion out now, the cost may appear a bit more bearable?

Cheers, CW

Re: Karousel

Hello! I asked my local Linn dealer for a Karousel upgrade. He told me he would charge 150€ on top of the 890€ for the installation. That is because he would need about 5 hours to install it. He doesn't agree with Linn politics concerning the Karousel upgrade to be free of installation charge. Is t...

Re: Karousel

It seems that Linn is committing suicide offering an upgrade that for less than 1,000 € could transform an Akurate LP12 to a more musical device than a crazy pricey Klimax LP12 Who the hell will buy a Keel, an Ekos or a Klimax Radikal in the future? M. I volunteer for the Radikal for an even slicke...

Re: Status in the world of hifi

The old analog sound has the ability to draw me into the music almost participating whereas digital makes me more of an observer listening to nice sounds. While I share this observation, what if this is not caused by the technology, but the 'mental model' of the engineers in the studio? In the gold...

Re: Karousel

Good that no cat was hurt :-) Fortunately mine stays away from the LP12. In a way it might be seen as wasting a free upgrade, but that's assuming you have the necessary € 3.570,- to spend. In this case it only cost me 300,- more to swap the LP12 than buying the Karousel and that's as much as I was ...

Re: Best sounding LAN cable for DS

I understood Fredrik recommends to go for 8.5 ft length Cat 6a BJC, even if a shorter length would bridge the gap. Any opinion on the color? Theoretically, different colors might impose different chemistry, which might lead to different performance. Which one did you pick?

Re: Karousel

I wonder what is different about the Karosel vs Cirkus that now makes it non compatible with third party subchassis or is it Linn just protecting themselves from lawsuits. I'd guess this is Linn just being prudent. After all, it is not Linn's job to maintain compatibility with third party subchassi...
