Re: Market Rules
Hi quick question - is it only Linn or Lejonklou items that are advertised for sale? I didn't see anything in the rules? Thanks Hi finster! Quoting the first post: "Only hifi things that can play a tune and related equipment, parts and services. Nothing else." No brands are mentioned. Although I wo...

Re: 242 3k array torque settings?
.9Nm would be approximately .8Nm + 6 notches. If the Wera has the ability to go halfway between the markings you might want to try between .9 and .8Nm as that would be quite close to .8Nm +3. In the end, however, those of us using the system have found 1 notch, which equates to between .01 and .02Nm...

Re: 242 3k array torque settings?
I don't know if we have ever posted these figures up here. My finding for the array is .8Nm + 3 notches and I believe Fredrik felt the same. However, Paolo felt 1.6Nm + 3 notches was better so there is a rare difference of opinion here. I did try the higher figure but stayed with the lower one, but ...

Re: New Linn Kaber replacement bass driver
That driver was also used in the Keltik and is no longer available so there should be interest in it. There should be a number on the back such as SPKR 007/5. Listing that number will help others see if it would be the proper driver for their speaker as you want both speakers to match and there were...

Here's the more realistic volume level and KK set to 62.5 and iPad connected in the non-KK clip. The music seems a bit stiff without the KK so more flowing with it: EM no KK: https://www.dropbox.com/s/nvf50h9ip5ktped/EM_NoKK.MOV?dl=0 EM with KK: https://www.dropbox.com/s/m9bmuqayw1x1vs4/EM_WithKK.M...

Re: Tundra 2.2 vs Linn C4200/D and KCT/D
Interesting comparisons. Still much prefer pre-first to Radikal-first. I honestly don't hear the Radikal-first as rhythmically better, to me it it the other way around. The third way is interesting having a very direct sound to it where you can hear more but it also has a stridency I don't care for....

Re: Lejonklou at RMAF 2017 (Rocky Mountain Audio Fest)
As a further explanation, the Slipsik MC was a very early prototype that had literally been built about 3 weeks before the show. Fredrik had never heard it with a Kandid before the show and I hadn't heard it at all. The demonstration at the show was just undertaken to show what Fredrik was working o...

Yes, another very nice writeup. It is very gratifying when you find a reviewer who is all about the music and gets what you are doing.

Re: Tundra 2.2 vs Linn C4200/D and KCT/D
Yes, it is interesting how different the two sound. As before I definitely prefer pre-first. To me it sounds like better musicians playing more fluidly and it makes me want to dance. I usually don't listen much past beyond deciding which is most tuneful - probably because I do so much of this in my ...

Re: Three questions for everybody to answer!
Just have to say that this tread has made me laugh and cry listening to all those bad samples of "musik" presented. If it is up to me we have on 1. place (worst) The Hoff (Shatner is worse but does not count), 2. place Portsmouth Sinfonia and 3. place goes to Sabrina. I still wait for what Lejonklo...

Re: Three questions for everybody to answer!
OK, I'm afraid I may have you all beat (although maybe not considering the David Hasselhoff). My convenient lapse of memory above was jolted into remembrance when I looked in the hidden section of the record rack that is also not in the listening room. It highlighted a record called Golden Throats -...
Re: JBL 4645C
Since you bought a 3way cover. Then technically you could use it for up to 2 subwoofers and still have one channel left? Actually it is a 3 way stereo crossover so 6 channels total and 4 still available. It could be used with two subwoofers as is just by connecting them and turning the summing swit...
Re: JBL 4645C
Yes, it is the same size box. The only crossover he makes that is available in a compact package is a passive filter.
Re: JBL 4645C
Fredrik mentioned some interest in the Marchand XM44 after the reports at RMAF. It seems like here would be a good place to share some more information about it. I find the Marchand XM44 to be a pretty musical piece at a modest price. He also makes other crossovers that could work but the pricing is...
Re: JBL 4645C
Yes, only the amplitude setting can be easily changed on this crossover. However, the frequency and slope, as well as the subsonic filter, are set by plug-in cards. There are, in fact, three card slots in each section so if someone wanted to try a +7dB eq at 22Hz (that JBL suggests if you want flat ...

Re: Three questions for everybody to answer!
Great set of questions. 1) My first turntable was an AR XA which was a pretty nice piece. Of course, I have been saved by a technicality as it was not my first record player. That was a "portable" suitcase mono model with that kind of bumpy paper wrap similar to what was on guitar amps, I have no id...

Re: Lejonklou at RMAF 2017 (Rocky Mountain Audio Fest)
Herb was a real gentleman. I can understand that he felt a bit estranged among us freaks who were really digging what the system did. I agree with most of the notes he made when listening: Dry - yes, very tight and very dry. Big - oh, yes! On live albums it sounded as if the stage was right in fron...

Was Rafe impressed as last year? I don't know. He stayed and listened for a good while, but kept his opinions to himself. It'll be interesting to see what he writes. Super friendly guy with a relaxed and intense prescence. We both enjoyed actually meeting and talking to Rafe. He seems to be a reall...

Re: Lejonklou at RMAF 2017 (Rocky Mountain Audio Fest)
Thomas was in the midst of trying to get an email out to the audio press about the room so was a bit preoccupied when Fredrik asked the question. On the other hand the system is actually sounding better than it was in my home, quite a feat for a Hi-Fi show. I chalk it up to Fredrik's expert setup of...

Re: Lejonklou at RMAF 2017 (Rocky Mountain Audio Fest)
The Slipsik MC is planned to be self-powered in a compact case like the Gaio and Slipsik 6. It is still in the early stages so obviously things could change. The gain and loading settings would be fixed like the Linto. Fredrik would have to weigh in on the possibility of a different version for some...

Re: Lejonklou at RMAF 2017 (Rocky Mountain Audio Fest)
I thought it only fitting to give you all the news first. This year at RMAF Fredrik and I will be showing a prototype of the forthcoming Slipsik MC phono stage! Yes, a phono stage for low output MC cartridges. This is not a finished product - only a first prototype. Although it is still in the early...
